Parking and traffic has gotten much worse and fewer people are attending games than in the past 5-10 yes.
Something is not adding up

As for implementation regarding the student section, it's easy, just don't sell beer at those locations.
not that easy in TS. student section connects with NW end zone section. Students could just walk over there and purchase beer if that was the case..

I'm surprised that universities are even considering this. It would only take one alcohol-related incident/death of an underaged student and stadium sales of alcohol would disappear. Seems like too much of a liability.

I think the liability would be pushed to 3rd party vendors
It would be hard to find the school at fault. Hell, you've had alcohol related incidents in the NFL

Maybe with beer sales they could do away with the parking fees
Will never happen once implemented.

How in the world does paying to park hurt the gameday experience?

it really isn't even that expensive. If you tailgate with a group, it is a drop in the bucket. They could charge a lot more

exactly. The same people that complain about LSU not matching up to Alabama bitch when we do the things necessary to compete

Good point. At Texas all food and alcohol sales will be handled by their outside food vendor Sodexho. Not sure if Lsu uses an outside vendor or in house people. Sodexho has plenty of experience as they serve a lot of professional league sports as well.
If lsu did want to act on it they would need to contract an outside vendor for the operation of concessions and push liability to them.

Sell beer to pay for concession TVs and 1080p!!!!!!!!

They'll still get it from other sections so you'd have to card VERY hard, which I am A.O.K. with.
It needs to happen. Very trustworthy studies have been done showing its safer, less people get over-served, generates TONS of money, and people stay in the stadium longer.
They'd also quit selling after 3rd quarter or half-time I'm sure.

UNO & the weenies have been selling beer at baseballl and basketball ( I think ) for yrs and as far as I know, there have been no incidents that would expose them to any liabilty issues. It's all revenue for both programs. And as it's been stated here, with all the booze that's being sneaked in, going back to decades & decades, to not sell it is foolish in my opinion.

Yeah, we'll eventually get there. Only a couple of major programs have tried it. We certainly won't experiment with it until more people do it, particularly someone in the SEC. It's illogical, but CFB is archaic like that.

Tulane sells beer at baseball and basketball games. I wonder if they will sell beer at their new stadium?
No, but they are going to sell No-Doze and 5-Hour Energy.

There is no reason why you couldn't have beer sales at select sports. The most logical choice at LSU would be baseball and softball. The sport that would benefit the most would be basketball. And by benefit, I mean raise the noise level, not revenue.
I think the fact that so many tailgate for football, and many do for baseball, but no one does for basketball contributes to the game atmosphere, or lack there of. Needless to say, I do not mean to excuse the lack of performance by the respective teams. Clearly, more competitive teams generate better crowds.
I would love to buy a beer or two at a basketball game or baseball game. The fact that they allow it for a select few at baseball and football is just wrong to me. We can't trust our fans to drink responsibly at our sporting events, unless of course they can afford to join our little private club. Damn Elitist!

How many people do you know that bitch about having to move where they have tailgated for generations because of the new parking rules. I know I have heard this from many people and that changes there gameday experience.

Broad strokes of the paint brush. Not poor, don't have season tickets since I live in Texas, and buy tickets outside the stadium before the games I go to. However how many of your buddies or people you know bitch constantly any time prices and donation amounts go up. Everybody I know that has a family or multiple tickets bitch when prices go up because it comes right out of their pocket. Have four to six seats and tell me an average fan doesn't feel that affect their pocket book when prices and donations go up.
Attendance has become a problem across college football and some schools are going to lengths like installing wifi to try to keep people in the seats.
The athletic department runs a deficit and they raise prices to try to cove that deficit. If beer sales could fill that deficit then they wouldn't have to raise ticket prices.
If they did that then everything that joe blow lsu fan likes to bitch about constantly and use as reasons not to come to the game would be over.
Maybe your experience is different but when I hear people bitch or make reasons they don't come to games it's price first, traffic and loss of gameday experience following that. It's just what I hear from people.

Roger that. I've been to three SEC title games. No beer at any of them. Another one that surprised me: Final Four. No beer. Noooooooooo!
