LSU is significantly lacking in two of those areas.

Sorry, I live in Austin so was referring to it more than the whole state.

Hhmmm ... a thread about a female -- even if she is a cop. Bottom line --

I've heard many stories lately about people getting tickets in different areas for 5 mph over the limit. I had never heard of this until lately. You have to think the economy and the dire situation of most states, counties, and cities is a large factor in this.

A lot of interest was generated by the CWS so people that normally would not know much about baseball actually tuned in. I am not sure about your cop. Unless she was a die hard Aggie, she would pull for Tejas even if she went to Houston or Lamar.

I know this will come as a shock to very few of you, but most of these 5 mph type tickets are written by local cops as a source of city and municipal police force revenue (like Washington, LA).

They introduced a bill a month or so ago to stop the "speed traps," - for all tickets under 10 mph all of the funds go to the state (excepting big cities like N.O., B.R.). All the little towns were screaming about it. Not sure what happened with the bill, but I think Jindal supported it. It should help cut out some of the profit motive and return things more towards actual public safety.

I don't generally support cops, but it sounds like she may have been being generous. My guess is that you were going more than 5 MPH over the limit, but that's what she wrote so you don't have as stiff of fines and or insurance issues. The "LSU Student" thing may be for the same reason. A judge may be more lenient in the fines he/she gives based on the fact that you are a student. Just throwing it out there.

74 in a 70 last week in Washington, LA on I-49. May 1000 crabs from a gold-throne infest the crotch of every cop and city official (including officer Spike Lee) in the shite hole of Washingon, Louisiana. Everyone please drive the extra mile to spend your money....give none to Washington LA. I'm sure there are many many of you that have gotten a driving award (or 2, or 5) there!
I feel your pain got pulled over in that freaking speed trap myself for 75. Why couldn't Gustav saved up its winds pass over Baton Rouge and unleash its fury on that worthless town.

Actually, just checked Dead Pelican and saw this headline - "Washington mayor fights Louisiana's new law on speeding tickets"

Here's the link to the article: LINK

This might seem like it has nothing to do with LSU, but I guess it could affect those of us who have to drive down I-49 for LSU games.
