Sure he had natural ability, but he was legendary for his devotion to the analysis of hitting. He didn’t just roll out of bed and play ball

the thought process of hitting is easy. the physical act of actually doing it is hard.

You got that completely backwards. All the quotes I’ve seen in this thread from players making you believe hitting was that easy are such bullshite. If it was that easy, the gold standard for major league hikers - the .300 average would be a lot higher. Historically, the best hitters in the game fail 70% of the time. Ironically, the one guy who best sums up how hard hitting is his was Yogi Berra - “Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.“

If strike three was on the outside corner at the knees, he would go ahead and hit it.
Has anyone tried "just going ahead and hitting it" yet? Seems like a solid idea

His approach to hitting was made easier by the fact that he had incredible eyesight.
__________________________________________________________At At the end of the 1941 season when Ted Williams season average was .406 after playing in 143 games and 456 at bats, one of the stories about his remarkable eye sight was the young catcher remarking to the umpire after a Williams walk, “I thought that last pitch was a strike”. “It isn't a strike unless Williams swings at it, son”, said the umpire.

HAVING pitched to ted williams I wonder how you reseached this this stupid untrue statement. Ted Williams never had to guess or think about the ball, he just hit it..\
You shous stick to something you know about.

yeah, because the actual physical act of hitting a baseball is extremely difficult.
