how many times has Cotton gone through a line up 2-3 times this year?

Rarely ever, because he pitches him late in games. That's the whole point. He has basically been the set up man for Goody all year. It's the same exact reason PM doesnt bring him in until usually around the 7th inning and why PM uses someone like Bourgeois or Rumbelow to get him through early innings/middle relief when our weekend starters struggle. It's because batters will get a read on Cotton's off speed stuff and start hitting the ball. Plus his fastball doesn't have enough velocity. If your expecting a change up or a breaking ball and you get an 82 mile an hour fastball there really isn't a big adjustment to climb all over the fastball.

If your expecting off speed stuff from Gausman, you will never catch up to a 97 mile an hour fastball.

You say Cotton is only good for 1 time through the order but he's been good when he's gone further into games this year. That thought is far off and has no merit. Sure it's a good guess but it's not a fact that Cotton is only a setup guy

What I'm saying is PM is basically showing you (by his actions) what I'm trying to tell you. If PM didn't think hitters would get a read on Cotton after 2 or more times through the lineup then he would put Cotton in the game in earlier innings when our weekend starters struggle, instead of going with Rumbelow or Bourgeouis.

I would rather be able to see cotton in three straight games and situationally before using him as a starter. I would rather see bonvillian or Bourgeouis get a shot first

Anybody complaining about Cotton should remember he isn't even on scholarship. He gets absolutely nothing to play for LSU according to his own head coach. Anything they get from him is extra.

does cotton have the stamina to be a weekend starter?

This is a bad idea. If this was plausible then CPM would use Cotton as first out the pen when a starter gets pulled early. Instead, they reach for McCune or Broussard. The fact that he doesn't use Cotton tells me that the coaches don't see that potential in him. He only averages one IP per appearance. Broussard and McCune average twice that. He has a gaudy ERA, but the shorter a pitcher's appearances the easier it is to have a low ERA. I've watched these pitchers all year, and my opinion is that if we are going to have a third reliable starter it's going to be Eades or maybe Broussard.

I am all in for that. I would way rather see Cotton start over Eades. Eades is only good for 3 or 4 innings. Make him a reliver!!!

Do none of you remember the calls for Ott to start? Remember the results with that? Lets leave the Cotton and Goody alone. I do agree Eades needs some time off though. I just don't have the answer. I am not paid the big bucks though so that is ok.
