Yes the yard is huge.
No we probably won't hit one out in the whole tourney.
Do balls in the gaps become auto outs in this big ballpark?

Were you at the game? There were exactly two balls hit into the gap, one from each team. These teams know the tendencies and are positioned perfectly. Hitting to the gap is a lot harder than you think. There is a reason that batting averages are at an all-time low for the post-wooden bat era.

So Manieri consults the rant when deciding whether or not to lay down a bunt. Hmmmm....

Also, I'm not a big bunt em over in the first couple of innings guy, but I have no problems with a bunt late in a game when as a team you have already hit into 3 double plays for the game.

I didn't have an actual picture of hcb so I used the guy from the "successful black man" meme

So, you're saying that with the leadoff man on representing the tying run in the 9th that you don't bunt? Just curious.

Mainieri said he will never bunt in that situation when LSU is the visitor. He's playing to win.

I'm just building up my cred so that I have the right to get pissed off and yell "damn javiball!" when a Laird sac bunt in the 4th inning goes wrong in Omaha, and not have 50 Rantards jump all over me for being fickle.

I intend to meltdown during CWS over all sorts of little inconsequential things, and nobody better call me inconsistent!!

if Stevenson or Laird had been up, he would have bunted. 100% guaranteed.

This. What was wrong with wanting rymes ro bunt? It wasn't even a "hindsight is 20/20" deal. Everyone was terrified of a dp and guess what happened.

Stupid thread is stupid.

If Laird bunts McMullen over in the 1st and Stephenson gets his bunt a little further away from the catcher we don't need 9th inning heroics.

Well, he didn't when Laird was up in that situation a couple weeks ago.

It was the same situation, and after the game he explained that he was going for the win on the road down 1, not bunting over.

FWIW, I have no issue bunting Laird there, Stevenson shouldn't be in the game by that point. And hell no, I wouldn't bunt Rhymes in that situation. Regardless what else he has done at the plate that day, you let him swing away. Doubt he's a good bunter anyway.
