LSU's offense will be absurdly better than last year. QB- better, RB- better, FB- Better, TE - Better, OL- Players equal, coach is back = better, WR - better, Coach- cannot be worse = better. Can anyone argue that having the same players at every single skill position, but them having a year's more experience and Moffitting makes them each better?

Defense, well let's see:
RE - Sonic Sam vs Jordan Allen - Sam by a lot
LE - Mingo vs Rasco - Mingo by a lot
LT - Man Bear Pig vs Freak - Freak by a mile
RT - Bennie Logan vs Ego - Logan by a lot
LBs- Jones, Barrow, Minter vs Jones+, Barrow+, Welter - I call it even. The 2 years of experience make up for the loss. I personally would rather see Kwon, Beckwith, Barrow by season's end, but hey, I'm a grass is greener guy.
CBs- Simon, Mills, Collins vs Mills+,Collins+, and White? - Even. I always thought Simon rode the successes of his predecessors a bit, and could have used another year.
Safeties - Reid and Loston vs Loston+ and Ronald Martin - Slightly better. Martin was a beast last year and is my pick for breakout player, I think his junior year might not be as good as Reid's Soph year, but will equal Reid's showing last year, and if not, Ancient Poppa has another year of experience.

People are trying to french this game up like it'll be an epic struggle of good vs evil, of innocent little drug users vs the big bad child molesters, but it won't be. LSU is going to kick the dog shite out of TCU. The problem is depth. I don't think for a minute LSU has a vast wealth of players that are far beyond the caliber of TCU's players. 44th,38th,28th,63rd. That's TCU's recruiting rankings for the past 4 years. Lsu's is 9th, 6th, 8th, 7th. When you look at the years like that, it tells the story of how this game will go. Lsu's offense being much stronger than in years past will test the chest of TCU's defense.

I see it playing out like all LSU's games against teams like TCU, close at first, and then you look up and it's 31-10, with no sign of hope for the Bullshits. Then when it's over, their bitch arse coach can go talk shite about LSU players and their character, and the character of Les for recruiting those players, instead of how his team just got run up in. I can hardly wait for the presser after!

Probably not, they are the only team in the Big 12 that plays defense

Alignment is how a defense is categorized. What they do with the 5th DB is questionable and may be situational but a 4-2-5 is in fact, the NICKEL PKG.

(The below is totally cripped from a DS post from years ago - but it is also totally accurate)

The main difference between the 4-2-5 and the nickel is that the nickel replaces a linebacker with an extra corner in obvious passing downs or against teams with no real run game to speak of.

The 4-2-5 replaces a linebacker with a 3rd safety and is a direct response to the spread offense. With the right personnel, the 4-2-5 will contain the spread's passing threat while still providing protection against the run game (see TCU).

These two defenses are TOTALLY different in principle.

(/theft from Draconian Sanctions - I add this:)

To dismiss the 4-2-5 as "just a nickel package" rather than what it is - is just asking to get surprised.

Just looking at PPG, if in the SEC their defense would be behind: Bama, UF, LSU, USCe, Vandy, UGA, MSU, and ATM.

So no, I am not particularly worried about their defense.

As I read on some silly blog, TCU will not try and stop LSU, just out score them. This could cause trouble for the Tigers if they have one of their typical slow starts.

I'm sure we will just run the ball and control the game if that's the case. Our defense will make the stops they need to in a slow, old school Miles game. I doubt they do this.
