Yeah, idk how you could think that USC had anything to do with 2009 at all
I'm really confused first off how you confuse ULL and Florida nonetheless something that was separated by 2 years.

I remember during freshman band practice the staff telling us that we wouldn't be able to hear ourselves playing during the beginning of pregame, and I thought it was BS. They were right. And that was before the expansion, and in the final years of Charlie Mac, so I know it's louder now.
Last year of Coach Mac was 79 so that would put you in the band under Nick Rouse and GA Mike Strasser, right?

Random pet peeve. For any one who marches euph or baritone, do you want to kill all those trumpets who can't even hold their horn up without tucking their arms into the side?
Oh another note, I thought the band was legit this year. Loved it when you all played Neck before the BCSNG.

Incorrect. It's the exact same then as it is now.

just shows how soft the trumpets are. at least they aren't swinging their purses like the mellos though.

Oh man, we had someone in our section who would carry her baritone out to the field like a purse.
Still tougher than those pansy mellos, though.

idk what it is about the mellos, but there is zero masculinity in the entire section.

At least I didn't yell at you like I did to the guy that had your spot in 2010. He fricked up the BEST PREGAME EVER in ATL.

one time a mello literally ran across the field in tiger stadium before halftime. kid was on the wrong sideline AND wrong side of the 50.

Stories like this make me wonder how some people made it in.

No. In 1982, the opening drum cadence RIGHT before the first four notes of pregame was played a lot slower. If you listen to the tape or CD of "Hey Fighting Tigers" that came out in 1981, you will hear it played like that.
I was a student at LSU in the early to mid '80s and attended every home game, (as well as road trips to Auburn in '81 and to Bama in '80 and '82), and I can remember like it was yesterday that the beginning pregame drum cadence being very deliberate.
TGBFTL sped up the pregame drum cadence sometime in the '90s.

You're right Metry.
I was in TGBFTL in 80, 81 and 82. Every time I hear Pre Game now, I'm always thinking "SLOW DOWN".

It all depends on the director I guess. Once FBW gave Tiger Band to LRM, a lot of stuff changed. Hell, a lot of stuff has changed from LRM to Roy too.

Me too......
Another thing I remember about TGBFTL (that I miss DEARLY) - is the drum cadence 'cheer' that the band played while LSU had the ball and was in the huddle.
It went something like: "GOOOOOOO!, rum-pum pum-pa-rum pa-rum pa-pump GOOOOOOO! rum-pum pum-pa-rum pa-rum pa-pump GOOOOOO BIG TIGERS, GOOOOOOO! rum pum rum-pum rum-pa-rum-pa-pum..........
The Band played this when I was at LSU and also at my very first LSU game at age 6 on Oct. 25, 1969 vs Auburn, when the SEZ parking lot was shells, and I remember riding up Airline Hwy past the Snake Farm, Hopper's, and Bluebirds :)
But I think since the 90's it's been the short, mini-'hold-that-tiger' cheer when LSU has the ball" "Da da da DAAA..Gooooo Tigers! Da da da DAAAAA..Gooooo Tigers!...

It changed in the wrong direction unfortunately.
