Take on our Region

I've seen a lot on here as it relates to how the committee structured the brackets, and I feel some people feel slighted by the NCAA for a variety of different reasons. I honestly think we have a somewhat easier road than some of the better teams in our conference and our road to Omaha isn't all that bad.
We're going to have to play a good team to advance regardless, so, to me, it doesn't really matter if that good team is in the regionals or the super regionals. So while our regional may be more difficult with a national seed, the regional we're paired with is as good as we could have hoped for. Theoretically, we may only have to play Oregon St. once. As opposed to a super regional where you have to beat the team you're paired with twice. If we win our first game, then beat Oregon St in game 2, they would have to win their next game for us to have to play Oregon St twice. We have already beaten the projected #1 pitcher in the draft, so we have shown we can go toe-to-toe with any pitcher in the country.
If we make it through to the super regionals, we're either 1) playing Minnesota, a team without a lot of postseason experience. They haven't played in the NCAAT since 2016 and haven't ever played in a super regional. If UCLA comes out of that region, then we will likely be hosting the super regional, so that seems like a win-win for us.
If we make it through to Omaha, our side of the bracket would be paired with national seeds Stanford, Florida State, and UNC. I think that is much better than being on the same side as Ole Miss, Florida, Arkansas, and UGA. Not to mention a lot can happen as to who comes out of those regions and how anything can happen in Omaha.
At the end of the day, I think our draw is probably easier than some of our SEC foes. Oregon State is obviously a great team but we know who they are having played them 3 times last year. I don't see any reason why we can't beat them if we come to play like we did in Hoover last week. If we come to play, I really like our chances in getting through to Omaha.

Wont be necessary, the Demons do us a solid right out of the gate.

This team has been pretty awful on the road this season. That's one of my biggest concerns, regardless of who we play.

Well sure, but that was going to be the case with this team regardless once we got to a point where hosting wasn't going to happen. And while we have struggled away from the Box all season, I'm hopeful that winning four in Hoover put some of those jitters to rest.

I agree on the big picture, it’s favorable. Ole Miss is a National Seed and gets rewarded by getting the nation’s leader in homeruns and hitting as a 2 seed.

Omaha is always the goal.
This team took a big step in running through to the championship game of the SECT.
Hope they can keep it going. And if the pitching keeps up we definitely have a shot.

Not to mention a #3 seed that is also ranked in the top 25

If the big three are on pitching wise(Peterson. Hess Hillard)we have a shot........
And we need to use our speed more than just successful hit and runs ....think bunting and truly playing small ball like squeeze plays when speed is on third.......

Ole Miss' regional is pretty stacked. St Louis U's ace, Miller Hogan, is capable of beating a lot of teams. They don't have a ton of depth, but he's a good pitcher. I don't know what Ole Miss' plan is but it would be cool to see them start Brady Feigl in game 1 against his hometown school.
Tennesse Tech and Missouri State are both loaded. Ole Miss has one of the best teams in the country, IMO, but they don't have an east road out of their own regional.
Now, they could come in and just blow the doors off of everyone and make everything I said look like bullshite, because they have bats capable of doing that and a deep pitching staff. But they are facing some good clubs this weekend.

Why is everyone so sure that we'll waltz past San Diego State?

I don't think that is the case. I think everyone is discussing the top 8 national seed that we are going to have to beat because they have the advantage of being able to throw down against the 4. SDS is a good team but it will be an even pitching matchup. OSU could potentially face LSU on Saturday and throw their #1 vs our #2.
Edit: Then again it looks like Bush may pitch against SDS which would leave Hess vs OSU game 2.

Well said.
Last I heard, our guys were really excited about playing out west since they rarely, if ever, get the opportunity to play out there.

Well that’s being awfully optimistic considering the circumstances

Go on...we would be fighting an uphill battle regardless of where we were sent. However, the teams we have to go through to get to Omaha could have been much worse than they are. People just see that we got sent to the west coast and automatically say we got screwed somehow, which that itself is laughable considering we were one of the last 5 in a week ago. But, regardless, there are much more difficult regionals and paired regionals than what we're faced with. It has nothing to do with optimism unless you care to elaborate on your point.
