I think the biggest take away is that our defense is going to be nasty and now has the depth to be the way for the entire 60minutes of the game. Obviously way early here but it looks like a top 5 defense in the country! The front seven, and it's depth, just looks dominant and extremely tough to move on. I feel by fall our secondary will come together and the pieces will fall into place as to who starts opposite of Greedy and should be a good unit.

Clyde HE looks like a legit SEC running back and a 3 down back to boot. Provens and Fournette look good also, the only disappointment was Brousette and the only reason I say that is because of very high hopes for him considering he waited his turn and was such a great back in HS which has not translated to the field yet.So our RB position should be fine, won't be what we have had for the last 3 years but then again we have had two 1st round RB's and another who will be on an NFL roster after the draft this year.

Receiving core will be fine and should excel there are so many talented receivers over there they will definitely find the right mix to put out there. And they better find a way to get Pettigrew on the field and balls thrown to him, after the game he actually looks like he could be the secret weapon in the passing game!

Oline didn't look good but with Charles and Austin D back in the fall we should be able to find the right mix there and become a more efficient unit in the fall - I hope if not it could be a long year because of the inexperience at QB. All in all I do think the O-line will be good as a unit once everyone is healthy, but after seeing what we saw in the spring game there is definitely some cause for concern but not to get freaked out over.

OB play, well there is no way to sugar coat it, it did not look pretty out there on Saturday and there is A LOT of progress that continues to need to be made from our QB's. And unfortunately, the play out of this position is going to be the difference in whether we are 6-6 as some predictions are, and 9-3 or 10-2. That being said I do believe we will find that QB and if it is JM there were some very positive takeaways from his play, he escaped the pocket extremely well and made a ton of positive plays with his feet. Now his inaccuracy should have cost us at least 2 picks and the first pass he threw should have been a pick 6, but I think he will correct this if he wins the job. LN just didn't look ready and Brennan has a cannon of an arm but damn that kid will be destroyed if he doesn't gain more weight.

All in all I think the LSU team is going to surprise people on the upside in 2018 because our defense looks like a defense that everyone will be talking about. It looks like a defense that will keep us in every game and if we can just get some consistently GOOD QB play "which I do think we have a QB that can do that" we will be a tough team to beat.

Flame away if you want but I am a lot more optimistic going into 2018 than I was a week ago because that defense looks really, really good and I feel our offense will surprise people to the upside.

Reasonable analysis: But if it is overly optimistic, the elect will not be deceived!!

Depth at CB is major concern, cannot afford injuries at that position

Charles will be back to solidify LT, RT is a major concern but I think the 5 they put out there will be strong, cannot afford injury at T position

I'm worried Brennan is going to be a sitting duck in SEC play with that RT position uncertain, might be reason to have a mobile QB to utilize

Traore is biggest disappointment to me but still time for him to get better and let's face it, it's not like every team will have the athletes LSU has on D, once he gets some experience hopefully he will be able to help solidify the RT position

My takeaway is that 0 is still our HC and we’re ultimately screwed

JC players are a big waste of time. They go to JC for a reason.

You're scraping the bottom of the barrel if you're recruiting JC OL's in hopes of winning an SEC Championship; absolutely scraping the bottom.

Cornerback is a concern. Especially tackling. At least two missed tackles by Kirklin. Defensive backfield isn't as solid as in the past. Hopefully the bloodhounds find the QB quickly.

You are failing at recruiting if you are selling JUCO signees or incoming players on transfers a starting position. It just confirms you can't manage a roster. This isn't Jackie Sherrill and Miss State. We don't have to recruit players to Starkville.

And you could be right, 2018 will definitely give a clearer picture that is for sure. But we still have Aranda and with that defense that was on display on Saturday, his defensive unit looks like it might be the best he has had since he arrived at LSU it seriously looks like a top 5 unit in the country if studs like Lawerence, White, Alexander and Williams stay healthy. The pieces are there on defense they will be dominant.

So it will all come down to QB and Oline play, like it has for the past 10 years it seems like. And even though there are questions in each of those two position groups I actually feel like Ensminger is going to be better than people think and I feel the QB play has the potential, the key word is potential, to be better than we think at this point.

All in all for the first time in a number of years after watching the spring game I truly believe the Tigers will outperform peoples expectations. I feel 6-6 although you can make a case for that kind of performance, won't happen that we are going to be more of a 9-3 or 10-2 team, and that truly is a statement considering we play Miami, Bama, Georgia, and Auburn "away" who will all be ranked above us come August 31st. If you think about it as hard as our schedule is it actually sets up very favorable for LSU in that we play - Bama, Georgia, Miss St, & Ole Piss at home and Miami is essentially a kind of defacto home game considering it is in Dallas there should be a decidedly LSU friendly crowd. So 4 of the 5 games that the pundits have circled has tough games for us "they will be" are home games and except for the Miami game, anytime the Tigers are playing in Death Valley they are a team to be feared especially with what looks to be a top defensive unit in the country. Our away games are Florida, TAMU, and Arky where those teams don't have our talent or depth and are breaking in new coaches and new systems we should outright win those games even though playing on the road in the SEC is tough. The Auburn game will be tough though.

But anyone who knows football and watched the Tigers on Saturday should be optimistic going into 2018 even if you don't like O, the Tigers will be on the prowl don't sell them short they are going to be a force in the SEC this year because of that nasty arse defense!!!!! Watch and see!

Yes, bama struggles this year with isiah Buggs, a JC DE, starting

I can’t believe auburn won a national championship with cam newton, a jc transfer, guaranteed the starting qb position

Would you like me to continue?

My takeaway was that the passing plays and routes were much improved over past years. You could see many short and medium routes that put defenders in a decision overload and created the easily open guy. It also helps that our WRs are 6’4”

You do know that several of Bama's championship was built on JUCO players right?

You only need to say one name "Cam Newton" and look what he did for Auburn!!!!
