re: Tailgating Etiquette

Fact is LSU owns all the tailgate real estate. How long will it be before the "Brass" realizes they can sell the rights to these prime time picnic spots ? That would certainly solve the argument on this thread.. Maybe your tailgate spot for next football season will be determined by your TAF Rank.. It could happen !
Question --- seriously--- how much would you pay for the right to reserve your favorite spot for the season ? Would you pay $500 to declare it officially yours for the season ? No more getting there on Friday to rope off your spot ? What would it be worth to you ? I guess the closer to the stadium the more valuable the real estate. Maybe this would solve the budget cut issue. I'm surprised LSU hasnt jumped on this...
What would you pay ??? or would you pay ??

Wow! 14 pages about tailgate entitlement, when this could all be solved by BT pulling out his documentation of ownership.

FWIW, there are about 10plus people in this thread who agree with me.
I dont have a document, and also Ive said about 32 times that its a matter of respect not entitlement.
Once again people like you jump in the tail end of a thread without reading and throw out opinions and accusations without know exactly what was said.
Good Job, typical ranter response.

BT gets there early, works hard, and does it up first class. I think all he means is this, just be respectful and thoughtful of the old timers who have been in a spot for years. Tradition counts in college football even if it isn't a written rule. I don't think it is ever a prob because most of the time the people that come once a year and don't know the campus well don't get up do the preparation BT does.

this whole thing started b/c I said someone beat us out ther on friday.. which 430 is earliest you are allowed to setup.. they were there well beofre that.
They showed up sometime around lunch on sat the first time. The man proceeded to pick his two tents up and leave.
The second time they(diff group) showed up at or around noon and yes we moved their tent over on the other side of the sidewalk about 20 feet away... just as they had it in our spot.
To beat us out there you at our spot you either gonna have to break campus rules and be there beofre 430 pm or get there before daylight and move my shite.

This whole dropping things off and leaving thing puzzles me. Everyone's uproar at people touching someone else's private property puzzles me too. If they care that much about the property, then why would they leave it alone unsupervised?
So, if I go to a crowded public restaurant with self seating & sit my drink on the table & leave to take a piss. It's OK to come back and see that my drink was stashed in a less desirable location. When asking for my seat and saying I got there first I am bullied by a group of say 4 that claims, "this is our table... we always eat here!" NICEEE!

So this would be acceptable for you?

In BT's defense, doesn't putting up a tent before 430 represent an invalid claim.
If you submit a bid to an auction before the auction actually starts wouldn't they wouldn't respect it either.
The tailgating auction starts at 430 friday pm.

Agreed. As much as I believe it's first come, first served in opposition to BT (I think). I would have to agree that if someone set-up before 4:30pm, you have every right to move their stuff as it breaks the rules. Heck, if someone has a problem with YOU moving their stuff, maybe the LSUPD should be contacted and have them move the stuff since it breaks the rules.

Since the thread is about tailgating, I live in Praireville but joined the army out of high school so thats why it says i am from Augusta, I go tailgate and to every home game the last 3 years. I have never set up my own shop at a Tiger game due to i drive down friday and back up on sunday and its to much crap for my car to haul. I also go with a few tiger buddies in the marines and navy we load up and drive down, we always just bring coolers, alot of beer, and 3 5ths of Ole #7. I always hear alot about how people come to our games and eat the great ole Louisiana food, I had to impose and ask so we always eat Micky D's, is it proper etiquette to ask to trade some beers for food? I have a great time Tailgating with my friends but it seems to be better to know people that set up shop there. I do not want to be a bum by any means just miss Louisiana's food.

Yeah! All you people who live in another state are not true Louisianians or LSU fans. GTFO!
Just so you and BT know, I was born and raised in B.R. and have two degrees from LSU. So both of you can STFU. It's obvious neither of you have a degree from LSU.

I still don't quite understand the idea of tailgating just to tailgate, not to go to the game.
No matter where you tailgate, you need to do a better job picking up your shite, I hate seeing my campus trashed after every game.
