Went to the Saints- Falcons game and it was all football. There was inelegant tailgating in the concrete Dome parking lot; blue collar beer drinking in the bars. We ate bfast @ the Waffle House on Canal St. and felt no need for linen clothes under oak trees. The crowd was loud and intense the whole game. LSU "fans" could learn a thing or two. I enjoy tailgating as much as the next guy, but all the set-up, take-down, partying all day wears on one; result: "fans" leaving games well before the end. Yes. that is absolutely your right, but spare me the "Death Valley" myth.

You've never been to any good tailgates and/or never had enough friends to get to go to one.

LSU games are like this for our biggest rival games.

You're using a top 5 Saints home game as the standard to compare all LSU home games to? No program will win that comparison.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone claim the NFL scene was better- that said you're comparing a playoff bound team to one that was out of it a month in

That and Lsu fans are now spoiled-- like all winning fan bases become eventually

I kind of feel with the OP is putting down. We were talking about this a few times at our tailgate this year. In the 80's, 90's & early 2000's the student body would put on their best gameday t-shirt from the bookstore, some shorts or jeans and be lining up at the gates 6 hours before kickoff. Now when they pan the student section it's a bunch of dressed up goofballs worrying about getting their shite posted on snapchat or instagram.

lots of nfl teams have great tailgate areas. sorry the saints experience is built around tourists and not the gameday itself.

The Saints' "experience"? WTF does that even mean? It's a kids' game played with an inflated pig's bladder where the goal is to knock the spit and the shite outta the guy across from you. If you want a "experience" go to the opera.

No, it means I can distinguish football from pretentious douchebaggery.

I'm calling bullshite on your supposed scholastic achievements.

LSU Ole Miss in 2014 was just as good as any Saints game from a crowd involvement perspective. You either don't go to good LSU games or you're just full of shite.

I've been an LSU fan since the late 60's, Skippy. Ppl didn't leave games at halftime and steadily stream out during the 3rd and 4th quarters. Tailgating is great, but when it becomes more important than the game itself, that's a problem. It's a matter of casual football fan vs. serious football fan.

Oh good. This is one of those Peej, "everything back in my day was better than it is today threads." Good to know I can stop wasting my time on it.
