Me and a couple of guys recently saw a short bus for sale pretty cheap and were thinking of buying it and converting it into a tailgate truck. Not sure about specifics but we wanted to repaint and reconstruct the inside for tailgating.

Does anyone have experience doing this that can offer any insight on how difficult/expensive this process would be? Is it possible to be done cheaply with only a couple thousand dollars and some DIY spirit?

Nothing overly fancy, just a place to transport tailgate essentials and set up camp. Maybe include a couple of TVs and beer taps with an overhang. Probably not gonna happen with limited time and budget, but just kicking around ideas.

Man, doing something like this 20 years ago would’ve been a great idea. Now.......I don’t know man. You’ll end parking that thing in a lot that’s not really conducive to what you’re probably thinking. Back then you’d have rigs like that set up all down Nicholson, the Extension, S. Stadium, etc. LSU killed that type of stuff sadly.

ABSOLUTELY DO IT. It will be the best decision you ever make. There will be plenty of obstacles for y'all- but don't be scared away, just put on your big girl panties and make it happen.

Great news - it's February and you're starting this process. Y'all have plenty of time to get it done by football season.

Level of difficulty is relative to your abilities, and you clearly kick arse, so you pretty much got this. How Expensive on the other hand? Never approach a tailgate with the intention of breaking even. But also remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Do what you can, and add to later.

This is my favorite: Van Geaux, always parked near Lockett.

I have always wanted to do this as well...

Unfortunately, I drive several hours to each game and can't really see that happening in a damn school bus!

Honestly, I don't know if you can actually find a place to park a school bus outside of the RV lot or something like that.

Honest answer from experience with friends, if you just want to use it for LSU football AND you don't already have a parking pass in one of the lots on campus next to a green space, its probably not worth it.

However, if you plan on using it for multiple things like some Saints games, Mardi Gras, road trips, beach trips, etc., it might be worth the time, effort and money yall put in.
