The funny thing is 90% of LSU fans right now are shitting their pants thinking they have to endure watching a "running" QB piss his pants against Alabama.

no doubt there are a bunch of irrational LSU fans, but it's nowhere near 90%...more like 25%

This is why I love Les Miles. Because he just doesn't give a shite what you Internet nerds say about him. Bolden is the backup and that's it. Deal with it.

The guy has less than 30 yards rushing in the past two seasons combined. It's figures out to less than a half a yard per carry, with his career long being like 15 yards.

sounds about right, he will be the starter by end of year so that everyone will see that last year wasn't all about JJ

Rated DUAL THREAT QB. It's well known he was supposed to be a runner.

While I respect your concern, rest easy. This guy is an insurance policy only. We have THE guy. Other guys are redshirt freshman. The JJ stigma is gone. We'll be fine.

Jesus, you are a downright fricking atrocious poster.

A few things to address:

1) Les's propensity for running QBs--If this were the case, wouldn't Flynn have started over Jamarcus in '05 and '06? And wouldn't RP have started over Flynn in '07?

2) Les's propensity for having a "change of pace" QB--We have had a change of pace QB all of 2 of Miles's 7 seasons here. And both we made the NCG.

3) Les's strange relationship with JJ--I don't think his relationship with JJ was the issue, it was his relationship with Lee. He terrified him. He didn't love JJ, he just viewed him as the lesser of 2 evils (i.e., not giving the other team the ball). We can all disagree with Les on this one if we wish, but try to be intellectually honest about it. He was not playing Jordan over Joe Montana. He was playing over Jarrett fricking Lee.

4) If Mett is so good, how come he didn't play last year--This is a very fair criticism, especially in hindsight. But the word is that Mett has a tendency to be somewhat immature and Mile's himself said that he was in his doghouse pretty much as soon as he walked on campus. Perhaps Mett just wasn't mentally ready to take over a championship caliber team a year ago. Especially one with 2 SR QBs who both had starting SEC experience.

But y'all continue to have your gaping count bleed all over the place about something that hasn't even happened yet.

Here is Bolden's rivals link. He was the 2nd rated QB according to them. I know he has sucked, but if this won't count against LSU's 85 while he is here, then we have nothing to lose.

Oops, just noticed this tidbit on rivals "He physically will remind fans of LSU’s Jordan Jefferson."

We don't want him.

So you're going off of an internet service's evaluation from 3 years ago as opposed to what has actually transpired on the field in the past two. Sounds logical.

With Mett's history of injury (BCS GAME )

No seriously, this is a good move for security. Our team is good enough to win running and palying D; we need experience for a backup. Hopefully this cat doesn't see too much of the field and still gets his BCS Ring.

Everywhere that there is a star QB one year, he was sitting on the bench the year before. With very few exceptions in guys like Colt McCoy who start for 4 years. Just because a guy is great one season (lets not just assume Mett will be this) doesn't mean he would have been great the year before. People obviously underestimate the value of coaching and think players do not progress at all from one year to the next.

"Wait, you mean a guy could be average one year, train hard and become good the next year? But shouldn't he have been good the first year, how did he get good?"

It may not happen until like the 3rd or 4th week of the season, but do you think Les has built in option packages for Bolden similar to what JJ did before taking over in the Bama game last year?

This is what I am scared of. I do NOT want this guy. Bama crushed him lst year. Knowing Miles the guy would be starting by game 6.

Case 2: Ran option well with RP. From that point on JJ was forced to be something he was not.

yeah and reading/listening to people who are paid to cover penn st. for a living and lifelong fans, they don't seem to think he is much of a runner (or a passer).
