Does anyone know what hotel the team is staying at? My 12 year old son would love to meet some of the players and get some autographs. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I live in Massachusetts. I wish I was down in Louisana. Too cold up here.

It's been cold down here too

What airports are best to fly to for the Syracuse game?
Is a side trip to Cooperstown feasible?

I was born there but moved to LA in 01. There's a Syracuse airport. And Cooperstown is about two hours away

Here's a tip from an upstate Native. Fly into Syracuse, rent a car and drive to the Thousand Islands Region and/or The St. Lawrence River. This is where I am from and where I spent every Summer of my life before age 18.it is beyond beautiful. Say hi to all my peeps in Watertown and Ogdensburg while you are there. LINK
quote:
The St. Lawrence River, flowing in from Lake Ontario becomes in the course of a few miles, so wide and so full of islands that it was called the Lake of the 1000 Islands. To the Indians it was known as “Manatoana” or Garden of the Great Spirit. As a vacation paradise it is world renowned. The river, 15 miles at its source, gradually narrows to five miles in width, and the islands over 1800 of them, vary in size from mere points of rock to those of several square miles in area. They extend from Cape Vincent to Ogdensburg, a distance of
50 miles. The 1000 Islands-Seaway Region boasts some of the very best sportfishing opportunities in the nation all year-round whether you're a novice or an avid angler. It's not unusual to see a professional bass or salmon tournament underway on the St. Lawrence, Lake Ontario, or Oneida Lake. The eastern shoreline of Lake Ontario is known worldwide as a mecca for salmon, brown and lake trout fisherman, and the bass and pike fishing in the St. Lawrence, Black, Salmon, and Oswego rivers is great. The muskie fishing in the St. Lawrence River and the walleye fishing in Oneida Lake are legendary. The Eastern Lake Ontario tributaries also form one of the finest winter steelhead fisheries in the Northeast.

When I can drive to an LSU game from Vermont, something is definitely off with the scheduling.

Visit Saratoga Springs. Great town.

Lots of non stops to New York City area from NOLA. Connections always add 2 hours anyway.
2 major things to see if you do New York City and rent a car .... West Point. An hour to 1.5 depending on which airport you land in New York City. Awesome see and at that time of year beautiful. Makes you respect our military and its very patriotic.
Then Cooperstown is probably 3 hours from West Point. So you stay somewhere. Do the Hall of Fame. Then you can fly out of Syracuse with connections or drive back to New York City. I fly a lot and I'll go out of my way to not have connections especially on a trip like a football game where you can add other things to see.
Added benefit is for those of you who think of NY as a concrete jungle you can see how rural and beautiful it is once you are about 40 minutes outside of New York City.
Could also spend say a Thursday night in New York City and do a play for a wife. Broadway is top notch.
Non stops Nola to New York City area
Delta: Laguardia or JFK
Jet blue : JFK
American/United: Newark
Depending on traffic
Laguardia to Manhatten 30 minutes
Laguardia to West Point 1.25 hours
JFK to Manhatten 50 minutes
JFK to West Point 2 hours
Newark to Manhatten 30 minutes
Newark to West Point 1.5 hours
West Point requires you take a tour bus rather than drive thru on your own (since 9/11). So check the website for times. I think last one is like 4 p.m. and they can sell out. Great stories on the tour and some getting out and looking around. Great views of Hudson River which is beautiful.
Two nice hotels (not over the top but historic ) if you want to stay in or near town of West Point which is a small and cute New England town. Thayer Hotel ... Old famous place on entrance to West Point. Or Bear Mountain Inn ... In state park 15 minutes away. Nice drive to top for tremendous senic view of the Hudson River Valley.
If you are wanting to do more and have another day.. Other things near West Point but on other side of Hudson River ... Vanderbilt Mansion overlooking River and FDR home and museum. And closer to New York City ... Roosevelt home also overlooking River and Culinary Institute of America .... Great place for a dinner or lunch.
Enjoy

Taking my son to the game, we're in Jersey City, NJ. We'll drive out for the weekend. We've never seen the Tigers play in person. I'm from Lafayette and my wife is from BR. Looking forward to that trip. My son is 10 and an O-D All American at the WR position. He's very excited.

Already have hotel booked in Cuse. Any idea when tickets go on sale?
Posted on 1/17/15 at 9:47 am to DocJerome
You can fly into Rochester (1:15 away) or Albany (2 hours) from Syracuse. Casino is 30 minutes from Syracuse. Cooperstown is 1 1/2 hours from SYR but alot of back roads. Great country in the fall. Weather will still be good.

Hey im from Southern New Jersey, would you guys recommend flying or driving to the Syracuse game. It would be a 5 hour drive, thanks
Posted on 1/17/15 at 10:43 am to FranMully
Southern NJ. Non stops from Philly 1.5 hours. Plus 1 hour at airport. Plus your drive time to airport. Sort of a push. And then no car in cuse

Ok thanks man, just wondering cause i'm 19 and havn't really made a 5-6 hour road trip yet. Think I might drive up with some of my friends and see LSU crush the Orange

I'm on the fence between driving from Brooklyn (4 hours?) and flying from LGA, but I'll be there.
Pretty cool to have this random trip to the northeast. Excited to check out Syracuse's campus, they have great history.
