I feel for him and his family. JJ is a good kid. When all is settled, hopefully his life will not be ruined. While i wish him well, if he is guilty, I find it hard to accept that he put his team through this. IF he did this, he should have come clean if not only for himself but for the LSU program. Integrity?????????

Fair enough, but you also can't be afraid to live your life either. If they are all of age and its a weekend they do have a right to be in a bar, though it might not be the ideal place, but that goes for anyone.

You are absolutly right they have the right to go where they want to go but they also have the responsibilty as football players representing LSU to make sure when trouble starts to get out of it and not get sucked into a stupid bar fight.

If he is guilty of what he may be guilty of, I don't have a bit of sympathy for him. If so, what he did, two weeks before the season opener was ridiculously stupid.

One bad decision in your youth shouldn't dictate the rest of your life.

its a bar fight, not a rape

i wonder if brpd obtains search warrants for every bar fight they are called out on?

...he SHOULD NOT have put himself in that situation. It was terrible judgement and horrid decision making. End of story.

those were grown men, not immature college aged kids. I would bet money that the guy Chuck chunked through the window deserved what he got.

If someone started shite with you, and you beat the dog shite out of them, think you should go to jail?

I lay as much blame on the dude who got himself into the situation that resulted in his arse kicking.

ETA- I don't say this because I am a JJ supporter. I don't know which QB should play. But I don't think JJ's life needs to significantly changed because of a bar fight.

Jesus Christ, you people make it sound like you never made a mistake or a bad decision...The guy is 20 years old...20 year olds make mistakes...There are many things I wish I wouldn't have done when I was that age.....

This is where we disagree, and the whole point of my post.

Even if he is the ringleader of every bad tidbit of information that's being reported/misreported, I still feel horrible for the kid, under the theory that if if he is anyone other than the LSU qb, this is a complete non-story.

Again, if you/I barfight at age 21 in Murphy's, Shady's, the Bengal, whereever......nothing happens. The price to pay is at most some fines, some bruises, some damaged ego (assuming me/you were the arse kickees, and not the arse kickers).

For him though, the price paid =/= the actions. And that's evening assuming the kickee's DIDN'T deserve it. If they DID deserve it, it border the "wow - just wow" suck factor.

I've made worse mistakes than this when I was young. I lived on and have a good life. Jefferson can do the same, but he has to learn from this situation. Sadly it may cost him the chance to play his senior season, but he has his whole life ahead

we have all done plenty of things we wish we would not have done but you have to be responsible enough to say I put myself in a bad situation so now I have to live with the consequences. Its taking ownership of what I do no one made me do the things I have done and no one is responsible for me but me....

Out of shear curiosity, what about some kids on the other side also taking responsibility? From what I can tell, the other party initially misrepresented their part in this (officially, in a legal statement).

Apparently despite any injuries suffered, they were examined at an ER and released (not held overnight for observation, or taken in for surgery, or even fitted with a brace), so I would argue the injuries weren't considered serious- newsflash: not all fractures are equal. Quite a few of us might well have some if we are involved in physical activities and not even know it.

There seems to be a pretty strong indication that the other party waited outside in the parking lot to confront JJ et al; if that is indeed the case I don't really have that much sympathy for them. "Oh he got hurt bad"; well then maybe he shouldn't go looking to fight. Maybe the players escalated too much, or maybe they didn't, but the expression "don't start nothin', won't be nothin'" comes into play here.

As for breaking curfew and going out on the last night of summer camp, that apparently is an unwritten tradition. Pretty sure going to a campus bar is norm for kids that age.
