Sugar Bowl question…

Will a 10-3 SEC west champion make the Sugar Bowl, or will they go for a 10-2 Bama or Ole Miss team? Obviously a hypothetical, but if LSU wins out in the regular season and loses to Georgia, will the SB committee take Bama over LSU (assuming Bama wins out)?

No, they'll take the 12-1 SEC East champ, because the 11-2 SEC Champ out of the West will be in the Playoffs.

Highest ranked SEC team in the last CFP poll not to make the playoff goes to the Sugar Bowl, so unless they somehow put a 10-2 bama who we beat head to head over a 10-3 LSU, we would be in the sugar bowl. But even if we don’t get sugar bowl (which would be a snub) we would likely get a spot in the Cotton or Orange bowl.

If the SEC Champ is in the playoffs, the sugar bowl automatically takes the highest ranked SEC team not in the playoffs.
That's the deal since the playoffs started. No negotiations or wheeling and dealing like there was in the past.

I figured the CFP would take 11-2 LSU and 12-1 Georgia, snub Tennessee if that were the case. Or, in a nightmare scenario, just take Georgia and Tennessee over LSU regardless of what happens in ATL.

Hypothetically, depending on the playoff teams, there could be 3 SEC teams going to NY6 bowls.

This is helpful. I’m assuming they’d put a 2 loss Bama team ahead of a 3 loss LSU in the final rankings if the Tigers win out but fall to UGA.

If we look good against UGA they won’t punish us too much. If we get run out of the stadium, maybe a different story.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies are entering the 2022 season with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation. Texas A&M also racked up talented transfers in the offseason, including former LSU quarterback Max Johnson. Can the Aggies bring this talent together to battle for first place in the SEC West?
4. Mississippi State (8-4)
Mike Leach's Air Raid offense looks to be a sleeper team in 2022. The Bulldogs return impressive starters such as quarterback Will Rogers, wide receiver Jaden Walley and cornerback Emmanuel Forbes. Mississippi Sate looks to prove that it can compete with anybody despite having one of the toughest schedules in the nation.
5. Ole Miss (8-4)
Head coach Lane Kiffin has done an excellent job in the transfer portal, recruiting talented student-athletes such as former USC quarterback Jaxson Dart and former TCU running back Zach Evans. The Rebels have a manageable schedule this season but face a couple of tough road tests in Arkansas and Texas A&M. Kiffin and the Rebs should have a successful 2022 campaign but will likely take a small step back compared to last year.
6. LSU (6-6)
The LSU Tigers are seeing major changes in 2022, as former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly will hope to lead the Tigers back to their winning ways. However, the team is competing in the grueling SEC West in the midst of a rebuilding year. The division is stacked with elite talent, so Kelly might face some obstacles in his first year as the program's coach.
7. Auburn (4-8)
There are many questions surrounding the Auburn Tigers this season. The team lost many talented players in 2021, including former starting quarterback Bo Nix. The Tigers have their work cut out for them as they face a grueling stretch in which they play LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Texas A&M. The Tigers have too many unknowns coming into this season and will likely finish at the bottom of the SEC West.

Texas will beat TCU and takeover the lead in the Big 12 on Saturday, so look for a LSU vs UT rematch in the Sugar Bowl if LSU doesn't win the SEC championship.

If Texas beats TCU Saturday they are still behind TCU in the conference rankings.

If Texas wins out we would be in the Big 12 championship game with a likely rematch again TCU.

Correct, unless wheeling and dealing occurs in the rankings. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but business is business.
