I usually sit about 7 rows up and I've never had a problem with it. To be honest, watching our team score a clutch touchdown against a top tier opponent and then being part of a massive student section explosion of celebration and dogpiling whilst being rained on by coke and bourbon... that's the best.

Exactly. the Student Section fun police are out in full force this year.

I was sitting in the NE during a game in 1998. I was covered in whiskey and coke. I was the designated driver for that night and drove back home to Alexandria. A state trooper pulled me over on I-49 and he just knew he had a DWI. After testing me and arguing with me for almost an hour he finally broke out the analyzer. Of course I blew a zero but the dumb arse still accused me of drinking.

FIFY
All the drinks from the bottom go up and the drinks from the top go down... Yeah, Tennessee game was the worst, I was sticky for the rest of the day... It was terrible

This. The ones who throw their cups have enough booze to make another one or the game is about to end. It is hard to give double high fives with a drink in your hand and there is no time to put it down.

This has happened every year for every game we play. Don't know where the OP went to school or how many times he's been to a game but this is normal.

they did that in the 90's when i was there. i thought it was childish and frankly dangerous back then. our student section makes our fanbase look bad. buddy's wife got hit with a half full water bottle thrown from the top row. it wasn't pretty

It's been tradition as long as I can remember. I went to my first game in 1978. As a member of GBFTL in the 80s I remember getting soaked on occasion (esp. the Earthquake Game).
At the UGA game in Athens last year, I was sitting in the lower bowl. When C. Scott scored the game winner, the first thing I did was look up and behind me to watch out for full cups coming from the students sitting in the upper deck. One landed not 3 feet from me and almost decapitated some lady.

this is why sitting in the student section while sober is a miserable experience.

Oh. Well that changes everything.

people are seriously bitching about getting hit with a plastic cup and some water at a football game? Goodness this fanbase is turning into a bunch of pussies.

Throwing cups has been going on since the 80's.
