My grandmother had this disease. This is especially bad news for a man who is only 46 years old. God's blessings to Coach Krag and his family.

I'm not reading the entire thread, but has anyone asked why he can still coach QB's but not be the OC? Miles said in the statement that Kragthorpe will continue to oversee all play calls from the box, so why not just call the plays himself? Krags himself said he will still be involved in game planning, so its not like he will be working fewer hours now because he's just the QB coach.
I don't get it, either he's healthy enough to coach or he's not. And if he is going to coach, then why not remain as OC? It's not like he's going to become part time now that he is just the QB coach.

Gosh, I love College Football fans.
All off-season Krags was the difference maker in this team. Now, his removal from the OC position to a limited QB coach roll is now no big deal.
Outstanding point. Welcome to Homerville, Baton Rouge, LA.
The only way this isn't a significant blow to LSU football is if Coach Kragthorpe wasn't expected to have a significant gameday role in the first place. I don't know that this was ever really addressed. The stories this offseason have all placed emphasis on his role as QB coach and gameplanner, rather than playcaller.
Truth be told, there has been a fair amount of mystery regarding the play calling duties at LSU lately. How much influence did Miles have over the playcalling? Did he take over playcalling duties at times last year? If so, when? These questions have never been specifically answered by anyone inside of LSU football and probably never will be. Miles goes to great lengths to protect his players and coaches. While this has proven to be a great strength of his regarding staff and player loyalty, it makes it very difficult for the fans and the media to know exactly who is accountable for what.
At the end of the day, I think this HAS to be a significant concern for the program. Hopefully, Miles and his staff will be able to make this work.

Could someone else be the OC?-yes
Could someone else coach the QBs?-no
Maybe JJ is improving under Krags?

Each case is different. Michael J. Fox was only 30 when he was diagnosed and was able to function well enough to not disclose it publicly for another 7 years. Wish Coach K. the very, very best.
(I didn't read through all 11 pages, so if someone already brought up the M.J. Fox age comparison, I apologize.)

I have faith in this team and this coaching staff. This year will not be a bust. This team will rally around this and win a bunch of football games.

Sorry for this, but he is in no way shape or form qualified to be the OC of a major football program like LSU. This isn't about play calling, it's about having the knowledge to know how to make adjustments to defensive schemes in real time during the game, which I hope stud surprises me, but the way his oline has been...
wrong. Stud has more OC expierience then krag does and his offenses were rated higher then when krags was a HC. Krag has more qb expierience by far and is going to focus on JJ. It would also seem to me that a oline coach would know more about playcalling and making adjustments then any of the other asst coaches.

Take your stats and your rational thought elsewhere.

So who takes over as the primary offensive line coach?

frick so les will pretty much be calling plays.
Look for more of last season.

Who do you suppose will be taking Stud's regular game time sideline duties of coaching up the Offensive Linemen?
Will the Line play suffer because Stud is in the Press Box?
Will Les get more involved with the O Line during games?
How will that affect his clock management focus?
So many questions and so little time...

Ben Wilkerson was mentioned as taking on a more prominent role in the O-Line.

Look, stud knows his line, he knows his people. A change in philosophy is in order. Do some people think stud is so incompetent he cannot do that? This is krags first year here, if anyone is behind it is him. Someone that has to retool a oline for gameplaning is not what we really need anyway. Krags specialty is qb coaching, and he is one of the best. I am fully confident that les knows what he is doing or he wouldn't have done it. I have a feeling that it might have been more "advised" then asked for. i could be wrong, but that was the vibe i got from watching les and krags in the PC.

In Les' press conference, he said that Krags will still be in the box.

There is this thing called Mental Stress and I am sure that all the hours he would have to put in would not take a toll on him physically!! For real, there is this thing called reallity!!!!!
I have a friend who has parkinsons, and it's pretty awful watching him degrade physically. He still works, but less than he used to. There are degrees of the illness and some people degrade more quickly than others. Don't know his situation but if he just found out about it, I am pretty sure he needs to step away from heavy responsibility.
For no other reason than it's a hell of a shock to find out you have it and are facing the unknown. I doubt he wants to deal with a lot of responsibility right now.

Not exactly true. Experience or seniority isn't always best.

the good news is that the offense can't be any worse than it was last year.
