“For example, Derrius Guice faced a Stacked Box — percentage of carries with at least one extra defender in the box — on 72.6% of his sampled carries for Yards Created.
Saquon Barkley faced a Stacked Box on 55.2% of carries while CFB average is around 56%.”

Our offense was as predictable, or even more predictable than any offense under miles. We ran tighter to the line up the middle even more
I tried telling people after the 1st game, and got roasted

Just curious as to what fournettes was if you can find that?

What's the definition of an extra defender? Seems kind of broad.
For instance does going 4 wide with 1 RB, 0 TE and 6 in the box count as an extra defender? Where as going 2 wide, with 2 TEs and 1 RB and 7 in the box not an extra defender? vs. 8 would be an extra defender?
Assuming it has to do with having more guys in the box than you can block = extra defender

Says a lot about how useless the LSU passing game is.

Probably why Canada wanted to play Brennan.

No. 2 - Derrius Guice, LSU
(Games charted - Alabama, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Missouri, Florida)
Average number of defenders in the box - 7.25
Average number of blockers in the box - 7.10
Of the five running backs charted, LSU’s Derrius Guice saw, on average, the most defenders in the box as well as the most blockers in the box. Defenses loaded up to stop Guice, as he was the team’s best weapon and needed to be accounted for on every snap. However, LSU also played a part in creating stacked boxes for Guice, as he rarely ran out of 10 and 11 personnel. Guice played in what we would call a traditional “NFL-offense,” as LSU used a ton of 12 and 21 personnel to run the ball.
While running out of more traditional boxes may have hurt Guice’s college statistics, it prepared him more for what he is going to see in the NFL. Guice saw eight defenders in the box on nearly 24 percent of his carries, averaging more than 6.75 yards per carry. He saw eight or more defenders in the box on a staggering 31.8 percent of his total rushes, by far the most of the top backs in this class.
The most impressive stats for Guice come when you compare the number of defenders in the box versus the number of blockers in the box. When Guice saw an even box (same number of blockers as defenders) in 2017, he averaged an incredible 8.4 yards per rush on 75 carries. Assuming Guice can find himself on a team that runs a ton of inside zone out of 12 or 21 personnel, he should thrive in the NFL against six- and seven-man boxes.
Guice isn’t the receiver that Saquon Barkley is, nor is he the pass protector, but as a pure runner, you can make the case that his skill set is better suited for the NFL game. He is more likely to be a consistent runner at the next level, as he rarely loses yardage despite the extra defenders in the box.

Fournette's 2015 Season:
116 Carries with 8+ defenders in the box (38.6% of total carries)
472 Yards gained (4.07 YPC)
14 TDs
Guice's 2017 Season (all games; the article extrapolated 7 games, assuming they meant Miss St and not Missouri):
84 Carries with 8+ defenders in the box (35.4% of total carries)
355 yards gained (3.99 YPC)
10 TDs
ETA: My numbers aren't giving Guice nearly the same volume of carries & YPC as the article's. Not sure exactly where the discrepancy is (I even extrapolated the same teams in my DB). Please don't shoot the messenger

It was so predictable that we set a record for passing plays of over 40 yards in a season at LSU and had the third highest passer rating in LSU history with Danny Etling at QB. You deserved to be roasted.

i'd be willing to bet that Guice has the better career than barkley. if the browns pick barkley well then Guice will most certainly be the better pro

Sorry facts upset you so much. Do you scream print the shirts when other players break records and do well during seasons we don’t win titles?

Our offense was as predictable, or even more predictable than any offense under miles.
Our two leading receivers coming back to start the year had a combined total of 31 catches in their career and we had a QB coming off of an off-season surgery, so teams would have been stupid not to stack the box.
The offense was a mixed bag with some obvious limitations. However, they basically beat UF using the jet sweep, the comeback against Auburn started with the 70-yard jet sweep to Gage and the TD sweep to Sullivan on 4th and goal, and LSU had almost twice as many rushing yards as they had in the previous two years COMBINED against Bama when Cam and then Ensminger were the offensive coordinators. The D Williams Wildcat run was I believe the longest for LSU in the history of the series, so the offense definitely had its moments with keeping the defense guessing.

So typical boring LSU old as hell pro style offense. It's hilarious that people still defend this shite. We should have went wildly different on our coordinator choice since we obviously didn't at HC. No, but at LSU, we're stuck in the revolving door, spinning in what seems to be an endless cycle of mediocrity.
