I'm baffled by this. This has absolutely nothing to do with his popularity. I keep getting downvotes and I don't understand it.

I realize my post will not be a popular narrative on here and will bring me lots of downvotes, but here goes.

The guys I know on the board love LSU and bleed purple and gold. I understand their view to be that most programs who buck the ncaa get hammered hard with penalities. Right or wrong, they believe suspending Wade, who was pretty much caught red handed cheating on tape, will help spare LSU the harshest of penalties.

Might their approach be wrong? Maybe. The problem is that the every body does it defense rarely works. I tried arguing when I got a ticket going 80 on the interstate that I was not only driving with the flow, but being passed up by other cars. All the officer heard was me admitting I was speeding.

So it’s America and protest is our right. I am fine with those who disagree with the action by the BOS.

I don’t agree painting all these guys as bad folks who are motivated to hurt LSU. To the contrary, most of these board members love LSU and have been big season ticket holders for years. Disagree with them? Fine. But bashing and harassing them can cross the line. These guys want LSU to win just as much, or more, than all of us. That’s why they made the hard decision of suspending Wade. They are trying their best to minimize the inevitable penalties we will suffer.

Sure, other programs cheat too. But not very many programs are faced with having their head coach cheat on tape.

So downvote away. But some of you have to know on some level the board of supervisors is mostly made up of avid LSU fans who are aware of the crowd noise clamoring for Wade to be reinstated, but think doing so buys LSU more penalties.

Most of the posters that have a problem, are in High School or College. I have a hard time believing that anyone that has been in the real world would have a problem with the way this was handled. Lack of institutional control would open a can of worms...for all programs.

So it’s been confirmed that Wade got caught cheating? Can you please link or provide a source?

An additional way to put pressure on these idiots is to let your local representatives know of your displeasure. Express to them at an overall level the university has become an absolute clown show. As our elected representatives they have a fiduciary responsibility to do what is best for this state, and if that’s leaning on the governor to make changes then so be it. I love LSU sports, but as a graduate and citizen of this state I’m absolutely embarrassed by the failing academics and numerous scandals that are coming out.

Either they were in on it, or they were too dumb to know what was going on, either way it’s unacceptable. The whole system of leadership is broken.

Do you realize most people are furious about the other scandals involving these buffoons, not just the sports related ones?

First of all, thanks for waiting, I appreciate that.

I googled them. King and Alleva are not on the board of supervisors, only Williams is. I can’t comment on what Williams was thinking, I have only met him once and don’t know him well. When we did meet it was at an LSU football game and he seemed to be wanting LSU to win pretty bad.

Moreover, I did not write that every board member is a good guy. They probably have a couple bad members who wormed their way on the board, most boards do.

The point of my post, notwithstanding your question, is that the board members are mostly made up of avid LSU fans and should not be harassed unreasonably for making a tough decision that they think is necessary to keep LSU basketball from receiving some sort of death penalty by the ncaa for not being proactive in the face of a coach caught pretty much red handed paying for recruits.

Might another approach than suspending Wade work? Sure, I guess. I am fine with all those who think it was a bad decision and who want to protestit. That sounds very American to me.

I was observing though that most of the guys on the board are huge LSU fans and are not bad guys because they made a decision with which some disagree. They are doing what they think is right for LSU, knowing their decision is unpopular with a lot if the fan base. One can disagree with them without insulting them or questioning their loyalty to LSU.

Like many posters here, most of these board members love Wade and how he has our tigers winning. But keeping a coach on after him being caught cheating on tape is asking for the death penalty.

So I’ll ask you a few questions if you don’t m8nd. . Do you really think most of the board members are bad guys who don’t like LSU? Do you think the reason they suspended Wade was to spare LSU harsher penalties? And if it wasn’t that, why do you think they made the difficult and unpopular decision to suspend the highly liked Wade? To intentionally hurt LSU? I’ll hang up and listen.

So the NCAA scantions univerities for “pretty much”? GTFO.

Make the accusation.

Did Will Wade pay recruits or not?

Stop beating around the bush.

If they did they are idiots. Self-flagellation will earn you no brownie points with the NCAA.

I am going to start repeatedly calling any LSU number linked to the A.D., BoS, administration, and even the damn janitors voicing disapproval and complaints.

I have just sent emails to Williams at BOS, Every member of the Athletic Dept., and every member of Compliance.
I went on the Compliance Facebook page, which appears to be out of use now. Nevertheless I left a message on the Messenger account. Their Twitter account is also out of use.

I phoned every single member of the Athletic Dept and Compliance. I was sent to voicemail for all of them except Alleva’s personal assistant. I asked her to pass on a message to Alleva expressing my anger and threatened to no longer donate to the basketball program. She said she would, but I’m not sure she will. She sounded a bit grumpy

I left explicit voice messages to all I phoned so there was no doubt as to why I called and where I stood on this issue. I was polite. I requested a response.

I have heard nothing yet. If I don’t hear by mid-afternoon, I’ll call all over again.

It only took about 20 minutes, so if everyone can spare that today, it would really help.
We have to bombard them. Tie up the phones. Fill their email boxes!
