Why put yourself in a position to have to pitch an ace in an elimination game?
Why not pitch our 3rd weekend starter and save Ranaudo for the series if we get there?

if Ranaudo goes Fri, He may not be available on Tuesday.

Some of you don't realize how much rest a pitcher needs, in order to START a game. I keep hearing "he can start after 3 days rest", etc. Yeah, if he only pitched 30 or so pitches in his last start. If Ranaudo pitches on Friday, and pitches like we want him to, 6+ innings, he is DONE. He ain't coming back as a starter on Wednesday. Ross has been our #3 all year. He is still our #3. He will be the pitcher to start in our 3rd game in the CWS.

He would be ready on Wed though.. But if you limit his pitch count on Friday and work him and Ross into the same game he would def be ready in 4 days rest.

so save him for a game that may not even take place?

eh, potentially losing both ranaudo and ross...no way

do you want to risk throwing Ranaudo and work Ross into it and what if we frick it up Friday, we lost Ross and Ranaudo. forcing COleman or someone in Saturday's game.

Big workhorses can come back on 3 days rest. I would never do that during the season but I would here. I've seen it in WS games a lot with a dominate pitcher.

And I would bet money we go with Anthony instead of Ross. The importance of getting to the Title series >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Who pitches in game 2 of the series.

ranaudo is a 20 year old kid who had an elbow issue last year
i think pitching ranaudo on friday and banking on him coming back on 3 days rest is a HUGE risk...especially when we have a capable pitcher in ross available

And yall want to burn Ross up and hope we beat a fired up team coming out of the losers bracket which could really frick up our rotation if we have to play on Sat.

Pitch Ranauldo Friday and he would be ready for Wednesday
or pitch Ross Friday and if we lose throw LC in the elimination game, then LC in game 3 of title series...he even said he'd pitch til his arm falls off

But not in a starter capacity. Yes, Coleman is a horse and a competitor. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in a clutch situation on Wednesday after pitching either Monday or Tuesday. But if you think that Ranaudo is going to start on Friday and go 6+ and then come back and start on Tue or Wed, you are wrong. Could he come back and pitch some innings? Maybe so. But he won't be starting. He wouldn't be our best option because of arm fatigue. Ranaudo on 4 days rest after throwing 100 pitches < Bradshaw fresh.

Pitch Anthony on Fri = poss avail on Wed and better chance at a win
Pitch Ross and you have a better chance at a loss and you lose both him and Coleman who would have to pitch Sat.. Then you have Anthony and Matulis in the championship series.. Yea... uhhh PASS

Ross said in the paper before the CWS started that the plan was for him to start game 2 of the final series if we win out

Randy Johnson did it. Jack Morris and others too. But I do understand the argument that he is a 20 yr. old kid and why he might not be capable of it.

you gotta throw ranaudo on friday. there is no tomorrow, he goes friday and can throw on 4 days rest on wednsday.

Then that would mean the plan is to pitch Anthony on Friday and have him come back on Wed if needed. With Coleman pitching game 1 and Ross pitching game 2.
