Those going to the game will be surprised at Starkvegas...friendly people, good food, nice bars, and the stadium is impressive. A lot has changed since the early 90's when I went back to finish college. Everyone has different expectations and likes. For me back then, I got serious about finishing college. In my spare time, I played golf on the very nice course the school has and when the seasons started, did my share of deer and duck hunting on the national refuge a few miles away...so my Starkville experience was all it needed to be!! Things have exploded since then-go with an open mind and I'm sure you will find a game weekend in Starkville is ranks right on up there and on par with other SEC venues-except LSU of course!!

Starkville is a shithole. Bulldog Deli was the lone thing that one horse town had worth a plug nickel and now that’s gone too. My buddy Rick has a club there for the locals, outside that, place is a nightmare.
Good luck on Saturday.

What does this have to with a football game? It’s a beat down then we get out.

Sound's like you haven't been back in a while if you think the Bulldog Deli is all it has....

quote:Yes. Because I wasn't irresponsible. I was at tryouts for the US national soccer team and the fricks at MSU ran out of water cups. So I was forced to drink from a cooler that some other irresponsible frick was sticking his hands into. We were running drills and playing games for about 8 hours for 5 days over the summer. How do you not expect paper cups to get heavily used?

frick Starkville, and frick you for making assumptions about me.

I had a good time my only trip there
the people were friendly and the couple places we ate were good as well
it has been a while, though. 2002. (42-0 tigers btw)

We were thinking about going( we are mid 50’s) then I thought about the cowbells. The ride home would be hell because she gets headaches easy

Went to Mississippi once for a State game.
1986, won 47-0 and the SEC Championship, but the highlight was that the game was in Jackson.

You're right. There's a Waffle House AND a Circle K.

I agree with most of this. Both Starkvegas and BR have good food, good bars, and friendly people. Davis-Wade is nothing like Death Valley, though. The vibe at MSU is a whole lot more laid back—even with all those damn cowbells. Still, it’s a great game day experience. (The food at LSU tailgates is definitely better than at MSU.)
Anyone who makes the trip to Starkville should try to eat at King’s Butcher (amazing steaks), Bulldog Burger (excellent burgers at reasonable prices), Starkville Cafe (breakfast spot), or the Bin 612 (nice patio bar with good food). Starkville is a nice place with a small-town vibe and friendly people. They have some surprisingly good bars and restaurants for such a small town.

Starkville is an Indian word for trailer park.
