“I read something interesting in the paper the other day about the Ryder Cup golf matches. One writer said, ‘Whoever wins the Ryder Cup, that captain will be considered somewhere between John Wooden and Vince Lombardi.’ And he said, ‘The loser will be considered like an SEC football coach after a loss.’ He’ll be the dummy. And that’s just the way it is. And we all know that. As coaches, we all know that.”

But in vintage Spurrier fashion, he didn’t stop there.

Of course, sometimes you can win and still be a dummy,” Spurrier cracked. “We’ve learned that recently, too.”

He's actually taking a shot at the fans, not calling Miles a dummy. He's saying we're treating him like he's losing even though he's winning. Mickey's right, you people need reading comprehension skills.

Maybe he's finally played enough golf and is ready to actually coach a real team again. But how old is that guy anyway?

The Ole Ball Coach is always good for a sound bite but I am pretty sure that Lester has as many NC's as he does.

Mickey Goldmill, I agree. When Tubbs was fired Saban said it was insane. He (Saban) said he isnt even safe in the SEC, win it all one year, go 6-6 the next and he would be gone too.

I'd take the record but I'd have Spurrier any day over Miles. Les isn't a pimple on Spurrier's butt in the history of college coaching!

If the winning coach looks like a dummy, what does that make the losing coach look like?

"Spurrier could have been talking about himself, replacing a Senior QB with a Freshman at Auburn?"

This.

However, I don't think ole ball coach was necessarily targeting Les.

Just a typical Spurrier wise crack. He does that to everyone.
