According to the stats from the practice report jarret and Jordan were the only 2 throwing during the scrimmage.
Not likely. If they ran a 130 play scrimmage that would mean they ran the ball the other 89 times (only 41 passes reported; 21 versus 20 with both QBs 1 pass below 50% completion). I doubt they were that unbalanced in a scrimmage. Consider Ridley and Ford carried the ball a total of 32 times. Garrett likely got some snaps and they just did not report his stats. 78 total plays were run with JJ, JL, Ridley, Ford, and Sheppard. That leaves 52 additional plays. There were only 4 sacks reported which if added still leaves 48 plays. Somebody else simply got those snaps.

we lost three seniors and are relying on redshift freshman and sophomores to fill the OLB positions.

Wow. This just shows how fast times moves. I did not think Baker and Francois had been in the program that long.

Lee has an incredibly quick release (Marino-ish like) and I am indebted to him as a Tiger fan for his effort vs. Troy in '08. And I can honestly say I pulled for the kid to succeed but the La Tech game last year was one of the poorest performances I have ever seen by a Tiger QB. He can chunk it, and has as much heart as anyone (he has no quit in him), just sorely needs to get his head straight.
JJ is very accurate and can use his legs to make some plays. But if our O is ever gonna find its rhythm JJ has got to make decisions quicker.
As for Garrett, if he has the maturity and outperforms the others - PLAY HIM. Just because he's a RS Fr doesn't mean he can't be better now than Lee/Jefferson. Hodson was a RS Fr in '86 and started and Herb Tyler was a Fr (true?) in '95 when he took over the reigns and he excelled.
Finally, if you have only young/inexperienced QB's (like in '08) it makes a lot of sense to spell them from time-to-time. It allows them to catch-up with the game mentally. Lee did well in '08 provided Hatch was around. But after Hatch went down and it was all on JL he really struggled.
For reasons unknown, we never gave JJ a break in '09 (perfect opportunity for some wildcat plays).

It makes perfect sense to get Garrett more snaps. If I am not mistaken JJ and JL have the same eligibility left. Therefore, instead of having a QB with little to no experience when they leave I would rather have a QB who has appeared in mop up duty for 2 years as opposed to none which would be the case if JL remains the backup. I know this makes way to much since, but try to oblige me.
