re: Sporting News: Edward Jim Orgeron Jr. is the 15th best coach in America

Orgeron was hired in late November and signing day was early February - 2 months and a few days before signing day.
Curry is suddenly finds himself in a young, crowded RB room - I don't see the problem here at all.

Sure.
You know how hard it is to recruit to a team that has no long term HC? What are you selling the kids?

After whiffing in 2018 as well*

As an interim coach you continue with "the board" that's given to you. But let's be honest - who commits to a team with no HC? No one did in 2016 (2017's class). What recruiting pitch do you have? Come to LSU and play for a coach we don't yet know running an offense that we don't yet know.
It was a terrific job just holding that class together.

Only O can answer that.
No, Goldie claims that while LSU had Etienne for Junior Day and for summer camps they couldn't offer him because they were also recruiting Akers. You have to ask Goldie why that is.
FSU was able to recuit Akers plus the #7 RB plus the #1 APB that year. Orgeron was able to sign the #2 and #8 RB in 2019. Only Goldie knows why you can't offer Etienne.

There it is again. Do you realize that FSU signed the #2 (Akers) and #7 RB that year AND the #1 APB? (Etienne was only #15)
Do you realize that LSU just signed the #2 and #8 RB in the 2019 class?
I didn't say they couldn't. It was clearly not Miles's strategy at the time though. We still had Guice, Brosette, Lanard and CEH already committed. LF was still there and you assume he's going pro the next season but nothing's 100%.
You think Akers and Etienne both would've come with the RBs already in the fold? We didn't have room for two backs of that caliber.

Playing on national TV every week in front of a rabid fanbase for a program with more wins than 118 other FBS programs??
Let’s not act like we are trying to get kids to come to Lawrence, Kansas.

Yes. Guice was almost finished with his career and Brossette had 300 career yards at that point. CEH is an APB, a third down back.
FSU got Akers, the #7 RB, and the #1 APB that cycle.

Ed Orgeron was hired January 2015. That is a fact which you cannot debate.

You only limit offers when you have firm commits in hand. First grade recruiting education.

Oh good grief. Are you another one that thinks the RC is the one that offers scholarships to kids?

I'll use the trick that you guys like to use and say that I'll trust the judgment of the expert over yours.

I don’t think that’s what he said, at all.
And you seem to completely discount the fact that both of these running backs are within 60 miles of LSU’s campus.

Yeah, kinda like Guice and Fournette and Brossette

I dont get your point unless you're just ignorant of what RCs actually do.

I guess that's why the expert sat two years before landing the prestigious KU job.
He got the job right? Where are you coaching this fall?

Unfortunately for him, yes. It's a dead end job for someone at the end of their career
