Then perhaps your coach and team should not spend the time to prepare for the game.
quote:Of course nobody wants to be the next UofM, the reason that was one of he biggest upsets ever is because it was so unlikely that App St would win. You have even less of a chance of beating LSU and you get upset when we acknowledge this.
nstead, you should all focus on SEC teams. But wait, you can't because nobody wants to be the next UM
quote:If that is your definition of respect, then you will get as much respect as Florida or Georgia. If fielding a team that your opponent prepares for equals respect, please explain how a team earns respect. Also, do you believe all teams are respected equally in the eyes of other teams, if now what separates them?
So your coach and team will take time and spend effort so they don't get caught with their pants down. That is respect, thanks very much!

Looking back at the Tulane game last year, I'm not sure if you would call it a lack of respect, but I did not feel the Tigers put forth their best effort.
I really don't think this will happen come Aug 30th. This will be the first time they get to hit someone in another uniform and it is in TS. The energy will be high.

Teams earn respect by winning. I see the posts of other enthusiastic ASU fans and I'm at least willing to acknowledge that we are not likely to win.
In all honesty, this game is not relavent for us. If LSU loses, or come close to losing, it will bring doubt about your next NC since BCS votes. We lose and it will have little effect since we simply need to make the playoffs. Beating UM did a lot for national exposure but did little except get Armanti hurt which is one of the reasons we we got beat by Wofford and Georgia Southern. This game does little good for anyone except the hype generated by the media.
Finally, if you prepare for us the way you prepare for other teams in the SEC then yes that is one form of respect. I doubt your coaching staff is taking this game as lightly as some of your fans/alumni. I doubt they are assuming it's cupcake game.

exactly why we win because the coaches will not treat it like a cup cake game

I'm actually pretty upset we agreed to play LSU. We got backed into a corner beating UM because none of the ACC teams would play us. We had a game every year with Wake Forest but they stopped playing us because we beat them. Duke.... well their lawyers said it all, Carolina, FSU, etc no takers. A team from in state would have more local interest, more ASU fans attending, be better for recruiting (locally) and perhaps set us up for entry to the ACC at some point in the future.

Not me. Chance to play the defending BCS Champion? Couldn't ask for a better game

I certainly understand your point of view, just don't think it helps us all that much. It's the UM game all over again, they got a lot to gain/lose and we don't. I don't see why agree to play teams like this, TV and national exposure of playing us will only help them. The only thing we get out of it is the payoff $$. We should schedule "cupcake" games against Duke, State, Carolina, etc.

And don't you think there's a chance this could happen again this year at TS? I think it could; four or five starting QBs last year were benched after the LSU game - either because of performance or injury.
Just saying...

Don't know how many QBs LSU injured last year but that is exactly my point. We can all agree that both teams want another NC. We win or make a close game of it and you guys can hang it up (UM scenario). Winning doesn't do anything to help us make the playoffs and only risks getting someone hurt. We could beat the NO Saints and it wouldn't help us into the playoffs. I could say the same thing if we were playing Watauga High (local HS), we gain nothing and run the risk of someone being injured.

quote:I disagree with that. You guys had your best recruiting class ever and another game on national TV will help even more. LSU has nothing to gain from this game because it will only generate headlines if we lose. App St can only gain(assuming no injuries) because they will get national exposure and if they pull off another miracle their recruiting will take another mega boost.

Exactly.
We are finding it harder to get I-A teams to play us. We appreciate the opportunity that LSU is giving us.

I understand this will be high vis and will be good for us so long as nobody gets hurt. Armanti or Coco Hillary or a couple of others twist an ankle or pull a hamstring and it will be ASU 3 Time National Champs not ASU 4 Time National Champs.
