It was a weak slide as he started it too far away from the plate therby losing the force needed to take out the catcher. I used to be a catcher and every time I had a shot at the other guy, my slide would start about 1-2 ft away but with knees curled and aiming at his thighs. With your knees curled, you can use more of your legs to take him out.

The slide was clean. There are cleats on the bottom of the shoes. They're gonna get in the way every now and then.

Yeah, his celebration was more like something you'd see on a football field, so it may have been a little over the top. But I don't think he was out to maliciously hurt the catcher. He sprinted 90 feet to get to home plate and slid. That's it. The catcher tried to block and paid for it. It's happened to LSU too.

What about Leon Landry getting hit in the EYE by a pitch? It was an accident to be sure. It just happened so fast. Kinda the same thing here. And no, I'm not suggesting that Ware ran 90+ mph to home plate like a pitch is thrown..... just that the 2 happened so fast.

Anyway, it's over.

Clean slide. What he did after was completely unacceptable, though.

I'd actually watch baseball if there was more of that.

You rantards wouldn't have said a word if he buried Nick Fairly and gave him the ole standover taunt after he got up.

Precisely. And for good reason. Fairley was a tough customer and would have deserved whatever was coming to him, just as Vandy's catcher did. Moreover, a theoretician's peers cannot even define the number 1; facts rather than theory govern sports.

If he did that, it would've been called taunting and a yellow hanky would've been thrown.

If the shoe was on the other foot LSU fans would Crucify the guy who slid in high and celebrated it

Didn't really appear to slide high.

This.

Watch the video a couple times. Both his shoes go straight across home plate. His cleats weren't high.

It is how he looks at the catcher after the play more so than the slide itself. If it were the other way and them into us most of you would be going nuts.

Gotta love when spectators attempt to dissect what was going on in the mind of an athlete after scoring. Especially when he just scored.

I can't wait to see him running in the fall with that kind of emotion and passion.

If the catcher chooses to block the plate he takes the risk of getting hit....nothing new here....i personally think Ware was easy on him by going feet first instead of going pete rose on him and knocking him to the backstop......
