I have heard of the infield fly rule for over 50 years and still don't understand it
The batter is out. Runners are still able to advance if they choose, at their own peril.
In youth baseball it is a disaster. The umps dont make it known. Routine is not always routine, the ball hits the ground and all hell breaks loose. Usually resulting in at least two outs, a parent getting a divorce and a coach getting thrown out.
