getting a couple of guys a yr counts as raiding? i'll take that if we can keep getting a couple from East texas.

Please. IF he leaves, good. He's been the sole obstacle in 2011 and 2012. Frankly, the rivalry is not exactly trending up for us--to many in the country, Bama basically put the nails in our coffin this year.
The other plus is obviously seeing the fans meltdown as others have said. He'll steal some LA recruits still but at least they won't be working against us in the regular season. That's much more palatable.

People need to REALLY pump the brakes on the idea of us losing control of the talent base in Louisiana. Couldn't be any further from the truth. Yeah, I'm disappointed that Saban has gotten two of our elite targets this year, but GODDAMN we have a ton of talent coming in and a ton already on board. And we very much still control this state.

well now you're just sounding like your point is driven by logic and reason. good luck with that here.

doesn't matter where he goes...he has connections all over Louisiana and Austin is just as close as Tuscaloosa.
the nuclear meldown in gumpland is what I'm looking forward to...the plutonium rods are overheating as we speak. we'll know more by tomorrow pm.

He needs to go WAY further away. He'll only raid us more often if in Texas...but at least Bama will be worse off! TAMU will take a bigger hit than us if Saban ends up at UT.

1. The NELA Bama connection will dry up now that Brick Haley is in charge of the area.
2. Saban hardly raids the state for "whoever he wants." I wish we had gotten Collins, Jones, and Robinson, but that was the first notable success he's had. And even so, he's not getting Fournette, Dupre, Willis, et al, despite making a hard charge for them.

I could not agree more.

The upside to Saban leaving Alabama is watching the gumps come to terms with being jilted.
Bama will still be a force LSU will have to contend with even if Saban departs.

I would miss playing him for sure, but I would not miss they guy plucking 5 stars out of the state.
I say this realizing Texas is right next to us

What coach wants the pressure of following Saban at Bama?
add to that Auburn, who is really really good under Malzahn. The pressure to beat Auburn wouldnt give anyone much cushion.

Whoever follows Saban is gonna have a tough task ahead.
The amount of pressure is gonna be insane.
The guy will be going in knowing he will never measure up.

Meh, it's doubtful Bama will maintain at this level, whether Saban goes or stays. Everything runs in cycles, and Bama is near the end of this one.
What I want to know is whether the idiot bandwagoners will ditch their Crimson gear in favor of burnt orange.

think it would change recruiting nick and bama lot of glitter, LC C rob hootie all fell for his pitch. think if he leaves some bama recruits gonna rethink their options. Still wonder if he really is leaving why the hard rush still recruiting talent for bama if he is going?
Posted on 12/11/13 at 10:26 am to MC5601
alabama is our rival...not saban

Never indicated they would remain at their current level. Any team experiencing Bama's recent success can expect a drop-off eventually. Hell, it could be argued their 2013 11-1 team was drop-off from their 2011 and 2012 NC teams.
But anyone thinking Bama won't remain a force in the SEC west is deluding themselves. There's a ton of reserve talent waiting to see the field.

frick that. He can peace the frick out. He's gotten every break his way and has directly resulted in LSU not getting to and/or winning the title game 2 of the last three years. His whole dynasty is based on mulligans and sure as hell almost got right back in this year had FSU lost.
So no, I'm tired of him getting his way despite losing key games when they should but don't count.

Have no fear. The SEC will expand to 16 teams and Texas will join the SEC West. The rivalry continues.
Holy shite, the meltdown on this board would be epic if that happens.

Y'all are killing me with this. Do you know how many Texas guys we will lose if he goes to UT? You think he won't recruit Louisiana if he's at TEXAS? WTF is wrong with y'all? I don't want him to leave. Keep him right where he is. His recruiting budget at UT will be double what it is at Alabama. It will only fuel the NS machine. Keep him at BAMA. We aren't that far off from beating him every year anyway. Plus he does make that rivalry exciting. Will that game be as much fun if Nick isn't coaching it?
