Plus Tech doesn't have the fans up here that LSU does.
That's the key. If all those rednecks who never even went to college would get off the LSU bandwagon and go to Tech games instead.... LA could support 2 "TOP 25 programs" with all the talent in the state. Tech needs more fans to get more money to get better facilities to get better players.

Tech needs to join CUSA or the Sunbelt conference in order to maximize their potential.
I don't know. Boise and Fresno State are pretty legitimate mid-major teams. Beat them, win the WAC, and you might get recruits and prestige faster than playing the Tulanes and FIU's of the world.
Comparing them to Miami is a little far-fetched because South Florida is so much more talent-rich than North Louisiana. I would think they could become a Utah-type team if a lot of things broke right.

Tech has to compete with hunting season. Seriously, that's one of their many excuses as to why people don't come to their home games.
Hunting season.
Mark of a powerhouse in the making. As soon as Dooley gets a look from another school, he's gonna bolt from that city as quickly as possible.

I really don't get the Miami-Ruston comparison.
Look at the population maps. Miami>>>>Ruston.
Dooley can get Tech into the top 25 without 4 and 5 star recruits if he stays (which I doubt - he'll be high on UGA's list when they fire Richt). Just ask Brian Kelly, Gary Patterson, Chris Peterson, Ferentz, etc. They don't get the big recruits that Penn State and OSU get, but there they are in the top 25, and even the top 10.

ULM is going broke and doesn't have much if an impact on Tech... Their attendance is a joke and with more budget cuts coming I doubt they stay in D1.
Tech's recruiting competition is now trying to keep decent in state recruits away from Tulsa, SMU, USM etc.
