1955. Damn, even perennial choker Ole Miss last went to Omaha in 1972.

Agreed. Their OOC is "Less Than Stellar".

I'm not sure how any LSU fan can argue this point. Bring Miami or UCLA in for an early season series instead of Centenary.

With all of the good in-state baseball being played in La......don't think it's necessary.

Just let programs such as Brown continue to call us when they have good teams.......

The Virginia fan's comment has more to do with, "Hey what about me?" (little man syndrome), than it does with knowing anything about LSU baseball. We'll have plenty enough games against top competition. Our SEC schedule is stronger than Virginia's ACC schedule.

Doh, good catch. Pep is a solid club with some great pitching.

Agreed. It is an honest assessment. Maybe some LSU fans know very little about LSU baseball.

The highest ranked team Virginia has played and beaten was 11th ranked E Carolina. Pepperdine has played and beaten #4 Cal State Fullerton and #11 U C Irvine. LSU OOC is better than Virginia at this point of the season.

your not going to bring in big time competition without giving a return trip, those days are over even with adding the extra week this year

LSU does not want to give up a three game gate at home especially with basketball failing to draw any fans with a far less ticket base

LSU still wants to play some road games in state as well, they have to in order to keep Tulane on the schedule

Boyd's World has not started their RPI and SOS for the season, but Warren Nolan has.

Virginia - 37
LSU - 59

my thoughts on this

first of all most college baseball teams schedule decent to poor teams to start the season its a way to get your young player some low risk experience so when you actually need him he is use to college baseball.

Secondly baseball is a sport that any team can beat any team any given day, now an LSU will beat a brown most days but there are situations where brown could beat LSU.

Third and most importantly this isn't college football where only 2 teams play for a national title, you have 64 teams playing to go to the world series, so have weak OCS or strong OCS you still will have a shot to play for the national title.

so to virgnia if you want to talk about how we are just playing a bunch of horrible teams to boost our schedule, try and prove it on the field by beating us in omaha. Oh wait you already did and look what happened

LSU didn't build a state-of-the-art facility with plush suites and a 10K seating capacity (and they can sell all the tickets) so the team could go on the road. That being said, college baseball is "deeper" than ever, with a ton of schools fielding baseball programs which are pretty darn competitive. LSU's schedule thus far has been okay, if hardly spectacular.

Still, I would like to see LSU play a series every year against the likes of Texas, Rice, TCU, Houston, etc. The series could alternate between Alex Box and MMP. LSU would probably make enough money at MMP to compensate for losing a home series.
