Yes, I do realize the talent we have from year to year should produce more wins.this was much more evident during the later years of the Les miles era.you could argue last year we underachieved under coach o as well.

In regard to this season though, I'd say we overachieved .
It seems some of us may not understand how hard it is to win championships with the offensive line struggles we had this season. I also don't think we realized sometimes this season how hard it was for us to get pressure on the quarterback without having to blitz.our guys on the edge, just aren't very good pass rushers like Neil and key had been over there time at LSU. Was it talent or coaching?,I do not know.

I wrote this because I saw that someone in a thread earlier made a comment that proved my point.

This guy or gal said, that we are returning a soon to be Heisman trophy candidate at quarterback. Obviously thats not true in most of our minds.

Anyway, I'm just saying that some of us are never gonna be happy with anything we do short of winning a national championship. The coach's will be hated especially, because people feel that were underachieving at an unprecedented level, because they think we've got tua or Murray and still can't win..

Sorry y'all, but we aint got a guy that can throw over 40 tdS a season, and if u think we do, then you'll never be satisfied.

We do got a guy though that can win some games with a good running game and great defense. Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy to have him. There's just a gap in talent on the lines between us and Alabama. There's the issue.

We've recruited as well on the lines as OU and Clemson.

You don't need to recruit as well as Bama to compete with them. Players just need to be developed properly.

I believe that the head coach we have right now is the man to get that done.

So when is a fair deadline for him to beat Bama? He stated upon hiring that we were gonna be a championship quickly. That was the expectation.

Is it his fault if he doesn't ever beat Bama? There are a lot of things surrounding that matchup that he has no control over.

I think we may have to be ok with him not beating Alabama. Doesn't mean he's not a great coach for LSU.

You just got the stamp of approval from the biggest idiot on this site.

Congrats to the OP for this accomplishment.

On your topic though...I somewhat agree. Beating Miami, Auburn, UGA was an overachievement (although Miami and Auburn turned out to not be very good).

Losing to UF, aTm and getting shut out versus Bama is an underachievement.

So I'd say it's a little of both. Finish off with a NY6 bowl win, and I'll say the season, as a whole, was successful.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

And you’re done. Boom. Solid post.

Why even waste one more second trying to explain “unrealistic expectations?” You either realize this or you don’t.

We have a chance to finish 10-3. That’s really good, on the cusp of being great. Producing more wins puts us in playoff contention. And I agree with you that’s where we should be.

I didn’t read beyond this sentence because I know you’re going to spend multiple paragraphs completely contradicting it.

Which is it? Do we need to win more? Or should our expectations be 9-3?

One last beta thread about how we shouldn't expect to be good before the new year. Cheers.

We don't have an o-line to allow the qb to throw 40 TDs and the most important limiting factor is O's conservative nature wouldn't allow them to achieve it.

That's literally what he was hired to do. You cant be a great coach if you cant win your division at least some years.

“ we overachieved”

Since when has 9-3, 5-3, with the 10th best O in the SEC, a 29-0 L to Bama at home, and our 1st L to A&M in over a decade become overachieving for LSU football?

Have our expectations dropped that far in 3 short yrs?

I think I have reasonable expectations. I expected 7-8 wins this year. We far exceeded expectations and O should be given tons of credit for that. Next year, with the way our schedule sets up and with what we bring back I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t finish 11-1.
