None of this would be a problem if they just would've made the outside wall of the stadium as high as the cinder block buildings. Problem solved.

The first rule about architecture is that "form follows function." The new seating was designed so it stacks vertically. None of the new seats are any further from the field than the first few rows in the sideline upper decks. The fans are just steps away from amenities. No where else are the fans as close to elevators/stairs/restrooms/concessions.

That's a great point when i was in the stadium for the spring game i was shocked to see how "ontop" the new addition feels.

I agree, I'm just assuming they wanted for people to have the view looking out to the south/southwest. Although it would still be visible from the north & inside the stadium in that scenario.

It was just a lazy design.

They could've just put another row of windows, put the arches up to be level with the bathrooms/concessions and just put wrought iron in the arches to give people a view from the top deck.

Yeah, pretty much how this side was done except it wouldn't have seats over it but would still look good from the outside.

actually im glad you brought this up. i agree this is a nice spatial arrangement, but any given spatial arrangement can me manifested numerous ways. on this project, it is like they worked until they arrived at the section and overall spatial arrangements, then stopped. there was alot more designing to be done to take this strategy and manifest it with nice morphology/details/material selections/etc.

Well the new addition could look better. We'll just have to enjoy the north side - what I call the pride and joy of the stadium. It looks the best and it's where the band comes down the hill and the players go in. That's where we'll be hanging out before the games.

I am also thrilled that we'll finally get up to 100,000. And with the south side being taller, we should be that much louder in the big games - as if we weren't loud enough already!

I love that old stadium. The history, tradition, my memories of going to games and even living in the dorm. I can't wait to be sweltering in my seat in early September. Geaux Tigers!
