I looked at a mock this morning that had minter late first. I think that's about where he will go. Somewhere between 29-35 I think.

He will run sub 4.5 and is a good kick returner. He also runs better inside the tackles than people give him credit for. I think he goes 4th-5th round.

I can see Ford possibly go in the 5th... but he'll need a combine invite.

What makes him day three talent?

Other than he has protection issues and running backs are devalued now in the NFL.

He:

is fast
is strong
can return kicks
can play special teams
Averaged over 5.8 yards per carry at LSU (Only Blue has a higher YPC among the running backs)

After the combine, I just don't see him slipping past the 5th.

Mine as well. Doesnt mean much, just how i see it.

These are really major factors. RB's that cant do it all (Pass block, outside, inside, pass catch, speed, power, ball security) have really dropped the past few years. Your 1st rd backs (take doug martin for example) can do it all to some degree. Backs will fall deep if they are specialists or one trick ponies b/c RB's are a dime/dozen.

is fast

Yes he is fast but he cant change direction and accelerate like a Forte, charles, or CJ2k can. Speed kills in the NFL, but you have to be able to control it at the RB position.

I could see the Bengals or Raiders taking a flyer on HB7 in the 3rd or even 2nd if he runs the 40 in the 4.4 range.

If he's 4.4 he won't make it past the second round unless he shows up at the combine with a reefer in his mouth. And he'll be a steal there!

that's wishful thinking. Do you live in Baton Rouge by any chance?

Lots of guys run 4.4 that played 3-4 years and have no character problems

I hope you're right, but I seriously doubt it. He's just not a tough runner. I wouldn't draft him at all.

...and caused one turnover every two games? I've seen exactly one of those in my half century.

Doesnt matter if they dont believe that he will stay on the field. Drugs are no-no's in the NFL as well.

IMO If Ford gets a combine invite he will post impressive (bench/vertical) #'s and with a sub 4.5 40 will certainly be drafted.
