I guess they feel that they have to do something to make some noise now that the student section is a shell of its former self.
That’s because the PA system has officially killed the student section.

What was the announced versus actual attendance?

I know they aren't going to change anything for us older fans, but if they are catering only to the students and young people, they will go broke.
Not for long though, amirite?

The bitch I’m from Louisiana bullshite needs to go. It’s so fricking annoying. I don’t understand how it is still being played

Here's my rant.
My Dad bought season tickets 50 years ago. I saw my first game at 6 pm on a Saturday night. AND yeah I'm old now.
We still have those same seats, have experienced them shrinking in size over the decades, bathrooms get slowly worse, concessions get more expensive with longer lines, pre-game entertainment disappeared, NO Mike at the visitor entrance. Used to park on South Stadium drive near the dairy store, for years to finally be pushed off campus completely. We truly tailgated by packing dinner, listening to the pre-game radio sitting on the truck's tailgate.
Today gameday is totally different experience. I do not enjoy the whole experience any longer. Still have the same seats, it's a legacy thing now, for my adult children and my grandchildren.
There are many things that need changing, pre game Mascot antics, RETURN MIKE TO THE SIDELINE PRE GAME, get rid of the fireworks, the golden band from tiger land needs to step up and get creative pre-game along the sidelines as teams warm up. These are just a start, get creative. Other sport venues are doing it better than Death Valley.
I could do this all day, but why and yes if changes cost money, raise the ticket prices or add a flat value added ticket fee to pay for it.

Why would I spend thousands on season tickets when I can grab an east side lower bowl seat for $35 an hour before kickoff?
I’m at nearly every home game, and the most I have ever paid for a game is $100, and that seat was in the south stadium club.

That was actually not true on Saturday. They showed up, except for the "reserved" Greek sections which should be addressed soon when that whole enterprise bites the dust. The students started several chants (yes at least one was pornographic) but they were in it early. According to security at DV, LSU expanded the student section for this game.

The endzones were full, sidelines were sparse

I’m a millennial and I have a great job and I have no issue mocking boomers for the disastrous take that is this thread.
Maybe they should go back to playing in leather helmets. These gosh darn players are too soft nowadays.
Stay off my lawn

The students were definitely in full force and loud Saturday night

I’ve been going for 2 decades and the game experience Saturday was about as good as you’re going to get for the first home game in south Louisiana. Weather was nice, lines moved pretty quick, traffic wasn’t terrible, stadium wasn’t crowded. Music sucked, but I’ve definitely heard worse.

I agree with a lot of this, but the stuff with the tiger and the band pregame just can't/won't happen.
I get why they quit parading Mike around the stadium years ago. It is a logistical nightmare to get his arse loaded on to the truck and then parade him around the stadium. That brings back fond memories, but I get it.
I have no idea what you mean about the band "getting creative--pre game along the sidelines as the teams warm up". None of that makes sense and definitely sounds like something that would be impossible to do, whatever it is.

I’m 25 and have been going to games since 03. I can’t believe how lame the stadium environment has become since then. There are a few exceptions like the bigger games where they seem to step up their game a little, but it’s still not what it used to be.

When you start pumping in music, you start attracting shite fans who like it.
Old traditions such as real cheerleaders, pep squad, both bands in attendance are dead.

The problem is that all of these young marketing nerds are trying so hard to make it like an NFL experience with the music at every possible second when play isn't going on. I don't want that at an LSU game. If I wanted it, I would go to New Orleans on a Sunday.

All in all, it was a horrible game experience, and we are seriously considering given the state of the program and our awful game experience, that we will not be renewing our 4 season tickets, after 30+ years.
I can tell you right now, that none of what you’re complaining about started this season. So, if you’re all of a sudden upset about this stuff, you probably haven’t been paying attention to care in previous seasons.
This is the state of college football across the board.
