She will be the best all around player since Ashlee Ducote Weems. Can hit for power, has speed, can cover ground, and has the meanness and determination not seen in this team since Ashlee.

No indeed. Nicky Dawson is a once in a lifetime player. Tell me to stop. Give me your starting lineup next year...

Griggs and Landry in the OF, I think Dawson and Weinberger will get many opportunities in the OF as well.

I think Jaquish will be the catcher. Amanda Doyle at 3B, Sydney Springfield at 1B. Most likely Quinn at 2B. Serrett at SS.

Cunningham will play a lot. She is an elite player

That is so laughable. To even think that there hasn't been better players since Ashlee Ducote shows your ignorance about the game. The game is so much better now then when she played, the SEC is now the premier conference in softball. Compare that to when Ashlee played it's night and day. There have been several All Americans since she played...and they all played in a much tougher SEC conference. Stop trying to live your life through your sisters accomplishments.

Anybody that has seen this team play and doesn't think Dawson starts from day one needs their head examined.

Not all great HS players translate to college so hold your horses. I am not saying she won't do great things here but yall need to calm down. Lets see how she does in fall practice and so on.

I usually just read but just because big brother is a nut job doesn't mean we should detract from what some of the old school original players accomplished. I have been going to LSU softball games since Ashlee played and I will tell you she was as dominate for her era as anybody ever. She still holds the single season BA record and played in what is basically the dead bat era (BBCOR) era like baseball plays in now. The bats in the late 90's were awful and today's are hot as firecrackers. I believe her RBI record was just broken last year. She was a two time 1st team AA. 1st team, that's saying something.

Modern era players are almost always better than the predecessors but don't take it out on one of our all time greats just because someone related to her posts embarrassing or downright stupid things.

I love the Tigers and I love all of the greats that helped us get this program to where it is today and Ashlee was one of the original cornerstones.

Mulerider, Your 100% correct. It was not my intention to take anything away from Ms.Ducote, and if that's how it reads, please accept my apology.

Your right, whomever is on here comparing a young high school recruit to the greatest players to play here or are playing here now is just silly and probably doesn't deserve a response.

I agree with Griggs/Landry/Serrett at those positions & that they won't sit. Jaquish will determine where she plays. Which could dictate Coach Torina searching for a transfer at 3B or C.

I do not know much about Ms. Dawson, but from the sounds of it she is an elite athlete. Her best asset according to all post here is her speed. That means she'll be OF, or pinch running. I'd hold off on slotting the freshman in though, unless Coach Torina is as high on one of these as she is/was on Serrett & Thornhill.

357, while we all appreciate your post and love of the sport, maybe you should refrain from the talent evaluations. You have been off the mark a good bit.

Jesus Christ you are clueless
Also Cunningham is an elite catcher so theres no issues at catcher.

357, let's apply common sense here. Is there any reason Kloss is DP 2/3 games besides the fact that she's a team player & SR? The JR does not want to sit 2/3 games. If she doesn't get what she wants, she can and it is my belief would leave. I'm sure Coach Torina knows her players a bit better than we do. I'm also confident she spoke to both. 1 was more receptive to the roll than the other I'd bet.

As for your talent evaluations, I distinctly remember you saying Griggs would develop power and Lockwood played "Gorilla ball". Completely wrong. Has either even hit away in 2 years? You're talking about these "elite" kids. They all have talent of course but unless you're following their travel teams and watching games,or getting your info from 1 of the 3 coaches, you're completely unqualified to make these assessments IMO.

She might have played at 2B that game but she is a frickn catcher. Go look her up and even Torina says she will play catcher a lot. She is a versatile player.

I never said Lockwood would play Gorilla ball

Power doesn't always necessarily mean HR, but more doubles and triples and hard hit balls.
