Yea this was going to be a major developing year with Kilponen. She is really talented/raw and will see a lot more time next year. Beth is very anal when it comes to a pitchers mechanics. They completely redid all her mechanics and so her control has been off this year. As she gets more comfortable and adjusted to her new mechanics, she will see a much bigger role. She showed some big flashes at times. The Georgia series showed how capable she is. It’s a matter of developing an off speed pitch and getting her settled with her control. What makes her unique was she has hit 69/70 on the radar gun.
They also are working on developing more pitches, specifically her change up. I expect her to make a sunseri type jump next year. Sunseri only had one or two pitches year one but developed a lot more in just one offseason! Nice thing for Ali is she got a bunch of experience this year which should help her going into next season!
Wickersham was so well adjusted year one because she had worked with Torina since she was in 8th grade. Kilponen has never had any pitching instruction btw

No surprise though, you also want torina fired.
I never knew Torina had her LSU Fan Haters..

Did you see the LSU Softball threads a few years ago? It was all revolved around the Nicky Dawson drama and then a couple posters attacked Torina and Jaquish personally for a while. They said she caused a lot of drama and internal turmoil in the program.
Things have settled down now, well until the Alabama series and now a few posters who never posted all year decide to come have an opinion

I think ULL is flying under the radar. Most people dismiss them because of their weak schedule. What some people may not realize is, half of their starting position players are transfers from P5 schools. Two from A&M, one from Oklahoma and one from Texas Tech. Two of them played in the 2017 World Series. Glasco has been to the world series more than once.

Went back and read it. Wow that went sideways quick. Some of the longer threads where juicy Softball gossip.
I am still baffled that Torina has Haters in the Fan base. Ok she’s a hard arse.. well that’s common trait for good coaches.
Beth seems nervous that Woodward is the new sheriff In town. I’m not cloSe to the softball program like some.. just a feeling

Why would she be nervous? She hasn't been lower than a super regional in like 5 years and has 3 CWS appearances in the last 4 years. Some of her best recruiting classes are in front of her too with the big facility upgrades. Of all the coaches on campus she is probably one of the safer ones easily.

She's probably the most secure coach on campus. DD's obviously very secure but theoretically, yet extremely unlikely, she could be forced to retire earlier than she wants to.

It was solely based on reaction from Torina the day Woody was introduced at his presser. I agree she is probably the most secure behind D-D.

Just a reminder that the softball tournament kicks off today at 5 central.
Arkansas (38-18) vs Tulsa (35-18) is the first game. It will be on an hour and a half before the LSU baseball game starts.
If you have 2 TV's in the LR the second softball game is at 7:30 central:
BYU (29-24) vs 13 *Oklahoma St. (39 - 14)

I saw the interview. There was nothing odd about it. All she did was thank Joe Alleva for giving her the opportunity. As this job was life changing for her and her family. She said LSU’s administration will make the right decisions and said she thinks Woodward will do a great job!
I’m not sure what else she is suppose to say. I’m sure all the coaches in athletics have the same demeanor walking in to see their new boss

Congrats to those girls. Sunseris jump from freshmen to sophomore year has been incredible.
Stewart making the all region team as a true frosh is impressive. She has been great for us this year.

Article from La Tech breaking down the opponents they will face this weekend.
No. 10 LSU (40-16)
The Lady Tigers were in the hunt for the regular season SEC crown the last weekend of the season, but a visit from Alabama spoiled things and they were swept on home soil to finish second. LSU is currently riding a five-game losing streak into regionals, falling to eventual champs Florida in the opening round of the SEC tourney last week. Offense has been the driving force for the Lady Tigers, who’ve pounded opposing pitching for 69 home runs.
Top hitter: Shelbi Sunseri
A utility player by trade, Sunseri spends ample time inside the circle for the LSU but in the batter’s box is where she’s shined the most in 2019. With an .807 slugging percentage and nearly reaching half her at-bats (.492 on-base percentage), Sunseri has brought a pop with 16 homers, second on the team, and a team-leading 56 RBIs.
Top pitcher: Shelbi Sunseri
Yes, you can be your team’s best hitter and pitcher, too. Sunseri has the most appearances (27) along with the most wins (12), complete games (11), strikeouts (75) and second on the staff in shutouts (five).
LSU regional breakdown by La Tech writer
Tomorrow's LSU opponent:
Monmouth (36-16)
The Lady Hawks are making their second straight NCAA regional appearance, this time coming off the second-most wins in a single in program history. They captured their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament title last week, downing No. 1 seed Marist, 6-1, in the championship contest. Pitching has paved the way for Monmouth this season as its offense hasn’t displayed much of a prowess for runs, plating 4.3 per game.
Top hitter: Lindsay Baron
It’s not too often a freshman leads your offensive team in most statistical categories, but Baron has been one of the more consistent bats this year. The leadoff ranks second on the team in average, but has the most extra base hits by far, including 21 doubles and 12 homers, and has scored 51 runs, all three team-highs, while knocking in 28 runs. Baron also leads the team in walks and owns a .437 on-base percentage.
Top pitcher: Alyssa Irons
Against the competition she’s face, Irons has been forceful with her imposing frame at 6-1. The sophomore right-handers sits tied for second in the country in wins (30), only Louisiana-Lafayette’s Summer Ellyson has more at 37, and has pitched a staggering 257.1 innings in 2019 with a 1.47 ERA. Irons’ 33 complete games is also impressive with 12 of those ending up shutouts and her strikeout-to-walk ratio of 225 to 48 (4.69) is 36th best in the nation. She’s held opponents to a .182 average.
