Coffey has been solid at third for sure and has a very solid bat. Another thing defensively that helps LSU is having Gutierrez play first and having Clark move in the DH spot.

Overall, this team is way better than last years team, in every aspect.

Having two SEC caliber pitchers really makes a difference. The hitting is better throughout the lineup

Having two is good but wonder if it will endure the SEC schedule? Hitting definitely better but pitching was a weakness last year.

Can we talk about Danieca Coffey?

Not only is she batting .471, but her defense is markedly better than it was in the early part of last year.

She was rather shaky at 3B in February and March last year and finished the year with 15 errors.

This year her fielding percentage is .983. I’m so glad we have Coffey for this year and next.

Has been great both ways. I remember some expert on here a couple years ago said she wasn't a SEC level player.

What could that be, dare I say coaching?

Everybody likes to play the "coaching" card.

Maybe the players are all a year older and have gotten better with the experience they earned last year? And adding Berzon to the staff and losing Sunseri has proven to be an upgrade so far.

We don't really know that yet though. Do they have a better record? Yes. But, there is only one "ace" so far, there are serious depth issues on the infield (any more injuries will tank this infield), and the more in depth offensive stats are not great.

At the end of the day wins are wins pre-conference but we really won't know the true outlook of this team till after the third Tennessee game, then we will know how much better this year is compared to years past.

All we can say so far is they have taken care of business and no really bad losses which is a good thing. There are many other ranked teams who can't say the same.

SEC play will say much more in the coming weeks but I'm optimistic by what I've seen so far. In particular I'm optimistic that Kilponen may finally have another reliable pitcher to get through conference play unlike last season. The hitting lineup is very senior heavy with lots of experience

The goal needs to be to at least host regionals again.

No one likes to play the “coaching card” when it comes to Beth - she is continually derided here.

….getting Berzon is attributable to Beth, as well.
