Osorio and the rise ball was a nightmare last year for us.

ONly 4 total hits and struck out 22 times vs UCLA and Oregon. Definitely got a lot of work to do.
Of course, the Cheerleaders will be there to defend all the loses with their litany of excuses.

I don't see anyone happy or defending these last two games.
We can all agree the offensive performances vs UCLA and Oregon were very poor to say the least and that a lot of adjustments need to be made on the offensive side of the ball.
But the pitching we did see the last two days are as good as it gets and that a lot of these players will learn and grow from this experience. You can't be timid in games like these, and it's something that many of these players will learn.
Still way too early to hit the panic button, we will know a lot more by the time of the Auburn series in two weeks.
I definitely don't agree with the all the handlings of the mechanical aspects of our offense but it's still a little early to say anything. A lot of other ranked teams across the country have looked really rough at the plate as well besides LSU.

And the pitching we threw at them is as good as it gets. We just had back to back losses with AA pitchers in the circle. These two teams just happen to have better position players than us. It is what it is.
We are 1/4 through the season so we have a good feel for the teams strengths and weaknesses. No shame in losing to two top 5 teams essentially on the road but the way we lost was definitely demoralizing. We were completely overmatched at the plate in both games.
Agree on the Bama series. Thank God we don't see Osorio this season.
We will keep plugging along and getting better. We have hit speed bumps in previous years and been able to power through it. This year is challenging without having the known studs like Jaquish and Landry but we will surely figure it out.

I wonder when Sunseri will make her way back to the field, I really like her potential at the plate. She does have a lot of power.
She definitely was one of the players who really stood out to me in the fall

Can Doyle play Catcher?
Really going to be exploited down the road if we dont have an arm to reach second base.
Ashlynn, we are 1/4 of the way through the season but not enough TV games to where we can really get an idea of who is doing what right or wrong. It's sad softball doesnt get the TV time that basketball does, but I understand how all that works.

Doyle can't catch. Main reason her knee's are bad. She's quite few surgeries of last 5 years.
Also don't think she would like the position just like Springfield. Catcher's are a different breed.

Wait and see CC get her shot at being there 50% or more of the time. She will be solid at the dish and offensively jsut needs the at bats. Don't put an SJ tag on her. Keep in mind SJ even though a good catcher was never an All American catcher. She went were the team needed her as a All American Utility.

You know how you know it’s not football season?
A softball game thread from 2 days ago that LSU LOST is on the 1st page.

The girls will get it going.
Remember last year losing to UCLA and Utah and Mary Nutter and look were they ended OKC.

I really like CC a lot behind the plate. She does need more at bats offensively to develop on that side of the ball. I do like her a lot defensively.

I agree Jaquish was only a slightly above average receiver but she had a shut down, you ain't running gun on that right shoulder. You just had no success taking the extra base or stealing against her. She is one of the best throwing catchers I have ever seen. She made the Olympic team due in large part to that arm.
CC is a super defensive catcher but light years away from the arm strength Tiger fans are used to. It's not fair to compare most arms to Jaquish much less a true freshman that has years to develop.
The downside is our staff has never been known for player development and they have not done a great job in previous years of emptying the bench to get freshman and other back ups the reps necessary to compete on a high level. This currently shows in our depth but I am holding out hope that philosophy has changed and we see more of these young talented players on the field and less of the upper class man that have had ample opportunity but yet to really break through.
I have said it for years, when it doubt play the best athlete and the underclassmen.
