LSU's sophomores carried us tonight

Stewart and Clark get us the one run

Wickersham and Kilponen pitch a shut out

Hopefully Sunseri and Andrews get going tomorrow. I imagine we will see some changes (Calland at catcher and Briggs in the OF)

Has the opponents pitching been that good or are we flat on the bats?

Prob a bit of both.

OSU pitcher is solid but Sunseri and Andrews are having some very rough at bats so far.

Andrews needs to go back to using the ground. She is trying to knock everything through the infield. She needs to bunt more and utilize her speed.

Sunseri looks to be pressing early and we all know what she can do.

I do have major questions when it comes to Antoine, Cummins and Tidwell. I know its early but I am concerned that Tidwell will struggle with her long swing (Much like Springfield). Cummins has to prove she can hit and control runners. And to be quite frank, I just don't think Antoine is good enough to hold out Briggs or Weinberger in the OF. Maybe she proves me wrong but thats just my opinion. Her basic fundamentals in general are not great, so what does she exactly provide? Much like Stewart did last year, I really think with experience Briggs will eventually take over at some point. She is too good of a player to not be producing for us and to do it regularly.

I am interested in seeing what the other hungry players do the rest of the weekend. We still have a lot of competition in a few areas. It hasn't been pretty but a big win vs OSU is a great start.

#1 Alabama vs #8 Florida State

7 to 7 top of the 8th. Bama has runner on 2nd with 2 outs. In the Joanne Graf Classic on WatchESPN.

FSU has had a damn strong team for a while now.

Speaking of which, Oklahoma State went to Tallahassee and beat FSU in their super regional on their way to the college world series last season.

Make no mistake they are a good ball club. This was a nice win. I think we break out on offense tomorrow with playing earlier and warmer weather.

Thanks 357 and guess we have not had privilege of viewing first games of the softball season in the past so really have no sense of what previous years were like. So wonder if first game jitters are upon us?

Being 2-0 is nice however with hopeful bats on the way.

Apparently there was some controversy in that game.

I saw an FSU batter (Mason) strike out but she wasn't called out. I think she then hit the game winner.

Not sure if that is the controversy in question.

Oof

I think FSU hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 7th and then they had some controversy in extra innings. Supposedly FSU fouled strike 3 that was caught by the catcher. Then they hit the game winning run.

Great win and won’t totally rush to judgement, but this is sure to finally be do or die for Dobson, right? We haven’t been a great hitting team in what, 4-5 seasons?
