This thread began with the assertion that Miles is better on offense and Saban better on defense. Maybe, but I always thought of the two as pretty similar in that department.
I think Nick set the bar with our defense in '03. Can check the stats and see that only Ar-kansas broke 20 pts on us. Great defense. Rarely, if ever, has one of Miles defenses dominated a good offense. Possibly UM ('05), Tenn ('06 - but note that Ainge got hurt early), or VT ('07) but none of these were exactly scoring machines.
But Nick on offense was mostly a dud. I think Les retained Jimbo for continuity's sake but Crowton is >>>>> Jimbo.
One of the more underappreciated marks of Miles’ teams is their chemistry. Les does a great job of developing team chemistry and by all indications much better than Nick. Consider how many players left early for the draft with Nick (and pre-maturely in many cases): Trev Faulk, Josh Reed, Michael Clayton, Marquise Hill, Matt Mauck (others?). In fact, under Nick the only player I recall who could’ve left early but stayed for their senior season was Marcus Spears (maybe Corey Webster). Now consider how many players have stayed with Les who could have left early (Kirston Pittman, Dorsey, Laron Landry, Doucet (others?), Tyson Jackson. Is JaMarcus (and who could fault him as the #1 pick) the only player to have left school early under Les?

saban lost to uab in baton rouge
saban had 2 major games lost on last pass of the game- bowl game against iowa and last play of ark game-- his team never understood the blitz packages-- miles is better, miles is better recruiter and players respect him and play harder for him- we will be better off with miles in long run
