Sanders would be a great hire as it puts a coach on the bench with extensive X and O's experience and it also shows prospective big men recruits we have the specific expertise to coach them up to the next level. He seems to have done a nice job at Utah coaching up Jazz's young big men Derrick Favors and Ernes Kanters ( both under 21 years old.). Sanders would be a nice compliment to the other coaches ( as well as Jones')recruiting expertise. Some more bio info:
Sanders was La high school basketball player of the year in 77 & 78 , was three year starter for UCLA, had an 11 year NBA playing career, was assistant coach for 3 Nba teams, had extensive head coaching experience in the D leagues, and served the past year as head of player development for the Utah Jazz. He played with Coach Jones at De Ridder and currently lives outside of Dallas. Sanders has been inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, and was listed as the 29th greatest Cleveland Cavalier player of all-time by the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He started at center at 6'6" for Larry Brown's 1980 UCLA team that made it to the championship game of NCAA 's. He ended up at UCLA as LSU made a late recruiting run at Sanders back in the day as he was viewed as under sized for a center and always played around the basket in high school. He played forward in the pros.
The 51-year-old has extensive head and assistant coaching experience in the developmental leagues having coached for the IBA's Black Hills Gold and Wisconsin Blasts, the USBL's Washington Congressionals and Adirondack Wildcats , and the D-League's Ashville Altitude and Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
He also has had assistant coaching stints in the NBA with the Pistons, Bucks and Bobcats. He was hired by the Utah Jazz in 2011 as head of player development with his specific expertise being working with big men. He was brought in to especially tutor the Jazz's young big men.

The Idaho Stampede of the D-League have been purchased by the Portland Trailblazers. There is a good chance they will want to hire their own coaching staff, so Randy Livingston could be out of a job.

They also declared that they would conduct a national search for their head coach position in which Randy Livingston, a former Stampede standout, occupied the past two seasons.

There is no doubt that Sanders has an impressive resume, but why would he want to go from the professional level down to being a college assistant? Seems like he could always land a position with some NBA team.
If Johnny really wants Sanders, he'll need to do an exceptionally strong selling job--he may be capable of that, we'll see.
