re: So many of you seem to hate Miles now...

bullshite. The score was 33-7 (a 26pt lead) and the drive started at 10:43 to go in the game. It ended at 6:44 to go. So, Mauck's injury occurred with about 8 minutes to go.
Are you saying you are dumbfounded every time a starting QB is left in the game with 8 minutes to go holding a 26-point lead?
Then you must have been cursing the shite out of Les Miles against Auburn this year, huh? Jefferson stayed in the game (with a 31-3 lead) until the 9:01 mark of the 4th quarter. Lee didn't come in until our next possession at 5:27. So, Miles committed another dumbfounding move in that game? Or, are you just making up bullshite?
Still not learning from that apparent blunder against Auburn, in the very next game, Miles kept Jefferson in the game against Tulane with a 28-0 lead until the 9:55 mark of the fourth quarter, when we made it 35-0. Another dumbfounding screwup by Miles?
And you must have really been screaming bloody murder in the 2007 Virginia Tech game when Miles left Flynn in the game well into the 4th quarter with a 34-7 lead, only to see him get hurt. Right?
Complain about UAB, and you're justified. Saban didn't have the team ready in that one. And the Iowa game too if you put that one on him, but this bullshite about leaving Mauck in the game against Florida is just hindsight-inspired drivel. Unless, that is, you think Miles is an even bigger idiot, as the examples above demonstrate.
Actually...in the Auburn and Tulane games, Jefferson came in for the first series in the 4th quarter and was then pulled after the drives ended. Mauck came in for the first series in the 4th quarter after an interception at around the 13:40 mark, drove down for a field goal which made it 36-7 (29 points). He was then put BACK in after a UF punt.

Just like Flynn pulled that play out of his arse at the last second btw with stupid letting the clock go down again against Auburn hitting Byrd for a spectacular catch in the endzone. He doesn't catch it, LSU loses
Gotta love revisionist history

But to let 17 crucial seconds run off the clock before calling timeout because you don't know the clock is running? Then, after that, to run a play to the hash marks (not the sideline or the end zone) and then not have another play called already or the FG unit ready to run on the field? Those are not even in the same ballpark with the screwups cited above. And, of course, there are the myriad examples of other time management blunders on top of that one.
And that's not even to mention hiring co-coordinators to screw up the defense in a year when you know you have a young QB and absolutely cannot affort to screw up the defense, calling idiotic drop back passes with a sack-prone QB on the edge of FG range or running a stupid-arse middle screen with no timeouts around midfield on a field of gumbo.
didn't saban hire a inexperienced o.c. in major applewhite the year before only to have to fire him? isn't this the same as hiring the co d.c.?
How about breaking the huddle with 12 men, after a time out, within the other teams 15 yardline in the forth quarter? lsu vs bama THIS PAST YEAR. re-watch the game. cost saban a possible t.d. How about his clock management in the bama tenn game to be bailed out by TWO blocked fg's. how about faking a punt in your own red zone during the s.e.c. championship (lsu vs tenn) and a n.c. game (bama vs texas) to have it backfire?
at the end of the day, all the coaches make stupid mistakes. one isn't immune and the other is.

wow...overreact much? I don't think you know enough about me to come to that conclusion. And yes...i do have Choctaw blood in me.
but good to know that you're willing to take that leap based on my opinions on a college football coach. I disagree with alot of people on here...but atleast i respect them and their opinions...most of them anyway.

He didn't fake a punt against UT in the SECCG. He went for it on fourth and inches.

Was Applewhite as bad?

Same as a false start or other dumb penalty. Nowhere near the same league with letting almost all of your time slip away when you're holding a timeout because you don't have the presence of mind to stop the clock.

Yes, but there are degrees of stupidity.
