Coaching searches are not an exact science. Thats the point of this.

It depends on the situation at the school. LSU in 2022 needed someone who could build a program from the ground up in the transfer portal and NIL transition. That required a CEO type who could set a vision for the program for both players and boosters. An adult in the room.

If you look at the program now compared to 2021, we are way better prepared to compete as an overall organization. That required experience and having done it previously. Maybe now, we can take a chance on a younger coach that is purely focused on the game, but not in 2021.

Experience only matters when the coach is a minority.

Lets not act like either of these coaches were big names before coming to LSU.

Saban had 4 years as a HC before LSU and Les had 3 years.

Saban was 34-24-1. Les was 28-21.
