So is the consensus that if 5 LSU beats 1 UGA, UGA is still in?

But the loser of 2 Ohio St - 3 Michigan is out?

I'm rooting for Michigan, but Ohio St winning may be better

Ohio State with 1 loss is a greater threat to get into the playoffs with 1 loss

Pull for Ohio State and If we win in the SECCG there will be no doubt we're in.

Losing the seccg will not keep UGA out.

It won’t but I don’t think it’s a shoe in that they’d be in

12-1 UGA with no SEC championship gets left out IF everyone else wins out

it's assumed they would stay in because of last year but this is a new year and I don't see them staying in the top 4 when there are other teams with the same record AND a conference championship.

that's if all of the teams win out. big if.

Yeah I’m with you. For one if Ohio State wins this weekend they are going to be ranked #1 so Georgia will be #2 when we play. If everyone wins out Georgia opens themselves up for the committee to have an easy way out by putting Georgia at #5 and saying you should have won the championship game. If we are ranked #5 and then #2 and we win there is no way we aren’t ranked ahead of them after that. And so would 1 loss USC and undefeated TCU. So Georgia definitely will be in a bind if everyone else keeps winning an they lose

There is no consensus. It is far too nuanced for the minds on this board.

Undefeated Big 10 champion will get in
Undefeated TCU will get in
12-1 USC would get in.

That last spot is going to be b/t 12-1 UGA and 11-2 LSU in the above scenario. Personally, I think beating UGA is a longshot. Even if it happens, I don't think TCU and USC both win out. One of them will lose. These things always have a way of working themselves out which would help a 1 loss UGA

If USC and TCU win out the winner of the SEC championship will be the only SEC team in.

If “when you lose” matters. It’s ridiculous to let the Ohio St./Michigan loser or Georgia in if they lose. Losing the last game of the season to a team that makes the playoff and then getting a do-over is just ridiculous if there are conference champs with equal or better records who get left out.

If there is a Pac 12 one loss champ USC, who would have 3 straight top 20 wins at this point, I could see the committee leaving Georgia out.

1. Ohio St
2. TCU
3 and 4: USC and LSU either order
5. Georgia

Also, not that it matters but it’s likely to be a #6 LSU vs. #1 (possibly even #2) Georgia by this time next week.

I think people are starting to realize that the SECCG is basically a play in game IF all of the other chalk keeps winning

agreed. I don't think the committee lets them remain in the top 4 and leaves out a conference champion

Possible scenario:

#1 OSU 13-0 (B10 champs)

#2 TCU 13-0 (B12 champs)
#3 LSU 11-2 (SEC champs)

#4 USC 12-1 (PAC12 champs)

LSU gets to play Lincoln Riley and USC for a national championship
