I think we will win, but I doubt it will be a blowout. I'll be happy with a win by any margin of points.

Yeah, they are well coached and in a good region for OL, so they are always decent at the ground and pound game. In the end, there will be too much athleticism for LSU. Whisky fans will probably show up better than Oregon but LSU should still dominate the stands.

All these posts seem clueless about Wisconsin's status this year...they are frankly rebuilding, not reloading.
To put it bluntly, this matchup only looks good on paper. Wisconsin will not be a good team in the opener, and maybe not all year. They are thin everywhere, especially in the OL, and two of those guys are coming off injuries. Both were held out of the spring game, which ended with a score of 6-0. And this against a defense that's replacing it's entire front seven. And the Badger kicking game was woeful.
I don't mean to beat a dead horse, or be disrespectful towards Wisconsin. But these are the facts of the matter.

Don't see us losing to Florida this year.

Badger fan here.
I don't feel very confident about this game. As someone said- bad timing. I think we would have beaten LSU last year and would have been right with LSU for the last 3-4 years or so. We have had some nice teams.
Based on the spring game and another practice I watched- I am leery about this season.
This is a rebuilding year basically. Our QB situation is unsettled and our receivers will be below average. Defense lost front 7. LSU nation will have a huge homefield advantage. Bucky fans travel great, but Houston in August isn't appealing. You guys will dominate the stands.
LSU wins by 10 in a physical game. Wisconsin hasn't been blown out in forever it seems. We had SCAR down in the bowl in the 2nd half, but that QB was a stud and their WR made some plays and our OC got cute. Spurrier won in the end. But that was last year.
Only way Wisconsin wins is if our D scheme attacks and stuffs your run while confusing your green QB. Our DC will dial it up all the time and the D will be more athletic and faster than before. If they surprise and hold your offense down- then this could turn into a Stanford-UW type game. More likely: we make a few plays, but you make a few more and your frosh RB flashes a bit. Damn I hope I am wrong.
Wish I could go. LSU band one of my favs. The drinking culture of the fanbases and the great bands of both schools would be fun to take in. I guess I will have to wait a couple seasons for the tailgate of the century (aka Lambeau game).

Special teams?
Doe returned a KO to the house vs SCAR. He has at least 2 now on returns. He is ok at KR-struggled more in PR.
Coverage units were pretty decent last year.
Kicking game was medicore. I think we will have to start a frosh kicker from Chatanooga this fall.
2011 ya'll had a great team. Undefeated till the bowl loss to Bama-right? That was the Russell Wilson year for us. I would have loved to have seen that matchup.

Thanks for stopping by and giving your objective feedback.
PS
Im not sure Wilson has the same wishes about playing that 2011 LSU D his last year at Wisconsin. lol
I do think he's a Superstar and Seattle repeats for what its worth.
Thanks Again but dont cut your team short. They will be coming in here bringing Big 10 pride(similar to Okla last yr) and LSU will field a very young QB on a big stage in unfamiliar territory.
I like this LSU team but the first game of the year is the game to catch them. I think LSU wins but I expect a very close game, which is how both schools seem to always play, anyway.

I don't understand why people always tend to overlook Ole Miss even after they beat us last season and are supposed to be an even better team this year.

What now? Did you see what they lost from that "system" that still got them 4 losses and drubbed by us with a less than stellar defense?

For those supporting AJ....I'd be totally cool with giving both guys a chance in the first game (couple of series) to see who's got the hot hand.

The Badgers return exactly three players from their defense, and they will be learning a new defensive system under new DC Dave Aranda.
2014 will be Aranda's second as Wisconsin's DC. Last year's defense played better than most fans expected and coach Aranda got a lot of credit for that.
He seems to be aiming at a smaller and quicker scheme. Not sure how well that will match up to a power running game.
While there are only three returning starters on defense, a few more kids made spot starts last season and most of the three deep players already have game experience.
The defense won't be the problem with the Wisconsin team in 2014. The problems will be on offense, particularly in the passing game.
