So I'm confused about this inequality....

Les miles job security is tied to arguments constantly revolving around having to replace him with a proven winner...and how unlikely that will be, and lead to downfall, apocalypse, dogs and cats living together, etc....
Yet Miles record at okieState over 4 years was just 28-21.
There are MANY MANY coaches with better records at similar schools right now.
If Miles could come here with a 28-21 record and do so well, why couldnt a coach with a better record from a similar situation come in and do even better?

Do you really want to make that gamble, though? Miles wins a lot of games in a tough conference. The problem is do you want to pay a coach $4 million a year for a team that will finish 3rd or 4th in the division.

Don't feed the troll....OP has been shitting on Miles all over the board today. Nothing to see here.

Holy shite. That's what I meant, dumbass. Do you REALLY think we're going to hire a new coach that hasn't won big and pay him $4 mil a year? I was talking about MILES!

I'm not trolling, I saw the stat in another thread and it got me thinking....
If you can answer it I'd love to hear the rationale.

Do you ever get tired of being stupid? I guess not.

There are 1, maybe 2 current college coaches who can get you 11-12 wins and in the NC hunt every year. Saban, Meyer.
If you're looking for a coach who will definitely do a better job than Miles, they will be few an far between. Having good recruiting is overrated and doesn't mean you will win easy. Look at USC, Texas, and Florida.
Firing Miles would be an insane risk because the odds are extremely low you get someone better. It's much more likely that what will happen is what happened to A&M after they fired Slocum or Nebraska after they fired Solich. A fanbase got spoiled and thought "always above average and occasional NC contender" wasn't good enough, and they ended up with a complete dumpster fire as a result

Exactly.

Someone calling him out is shitting on him? Please! He deserves any and all criticism for decisions that he is making as the head coach of this team. He is lauded for making good decisions and criticized for making questionable ones.
Poor Miles. Wtf is wrong with you pussies. He is absolutely fair game!!

Post of the day. Much truth contained here.

I mean. No one is gonna be better than Saban, so it really doesn't matter.
I truly do not believe there is a coach who can do significantly better than Miles has (aside from Saban and maybe Meyer).
The gap between Saban and everyone else has made good coaches look worse than they are. And no one has felt that sting more than LSU fans, because Saban used to be LSU's coach. Plain and simple. And understandable.

We can't fill stadiums and we're building more seats, we complain about the winningest coach in school history........and you want new student/athletes to come 'here' ! Maybe when our spring games draw 90,000+ instead of 25,000, and when we actually root for our team year in and year out, thru thick and thin, instead of whining when we don't win the bcs every year. 'we' don't deserve a better coach; or rather, 'we' haven't earned it !!!

So the new bar has been set correct? All the Miles lovers are now content with 3 loss seasons. 3 losses is the new par for LSU
LSU is no longer a top 5 program and you are all fine with that. 1-3 in bowl games makes you all happy. A complete blow out in the national championship game doesn't matter either. Top 10 recruiting classes the past 6 of 8 years, yet its the recruits fault we are losing game. Ever think that just maybe the talent is being under utilized and under coached? Here are your class rankings since 2006:
2006 #7
2007 #4
2008 #11
2009 #2
2010 #6
2011 #6
2012 #18
2013 #6
I guess that Miles isn't the great recruiter we all thought he was? I mean that has always been the main support behind the man, He gets the talent in every year right? Why hasn't it panned out? I am sure his locking down of in state talent is still continuing also. I mean Bama hasn't come in here the past 5 years and taken away any 5 stars correct?
Keep the sunshine pumping up guys, Miles is doing a great job with the new standards set by yourselves and Alleva.

So I'm confused
What successful coach in a difficult conference would WANT to come to LSU if LSU fires a head coach with an 80% winning record?
