TM, relatively speaking, outplayed PP. Yes. Fact.

what did he do better than PP? Blitz?

Auburn had many rushing yards, due in part to a few PP missed tackles.

what? Did he even miss a tackle the entire game? I'm pretty sure all of their big runs came on the side opposite of him

He is probably the best open field tackler LSU has had in years

Julio Jones is very good. So are the receivers in the NFL though...

Julio got most of his yards when PP was on the other side of the field or when we were in zone coverage.

The fact that you are even arguing this is very, very laughable

Ciron Black showed us awards are bogus.

Peterson is a great player and had a good year. Special teams player of the year was deserved.

Fact of the matter is that in the second half of the season, he was outplayed by a true freshman.

Yeah..it makes a lot of sense to compare a guy who is locked up man to man against the opponent's best WR every game to a guy to our 3rd corner

Anyone who thinks that TM's only contributions to this team were done by blitzing needs to stop arguing about the technical aspects of football.

You obviously have no rational football knowledge. TM was ALL over the freaking field. He made countless tackles coming from the opposite side of the field.

To the guy that asked if PP missed one tackle the whole game against Auburn, I would invite you to watch a replay and not look at box scores.

Glen Dorsey won every award in the book but he didn't deserve it IMO...with that being said, PP deserves it. i've seen the PP is overrated posts and i don't get it...QBs avoided his side of the field 90% of the time....mcelroy abused him but that had more to do with the scheme of our defense and mcelroy making passes with pinpoint accuracy rather than the skill of PP

Powerman,

I would argue this with you, but your premises are already fricked. TM played the nickle position for most of the year.

Next flame.

So far we have, TM is only a blitzer. And he plays corner.

Peterson did not miss that many tackles. When he was in position to make tackles, he almost always made them.

If you're saying saying he missed the tackle on the the 50 yard TD run play by Cam Newton, then you're wrong-- after Newton evaded several tackles and was inside the 10 yard line, Peterson got into position, got a hold of Newton and brought him down... Newton was just too close to the endzone to be kept out of it at that point. I saw one or two other plays where he didn't have a good angle and was only able to get an arm on someone (and therefore was not able to get into position to make a good form tackle). But it isn't reasonable to hold that against him.

And the Ark. game... I guess you're referring to the long TD catch where Hatcher hit Claiborne instead of the receiver and allowed the receiver to run into the open field. Not a great reaction by Peterson to the receiver's moves, but he was never really in position to tackle him, so, again, hard to really fault him.

For the most part, teams didn't go after Peterson much. When they did, he was pretty good at denying them the ball. When they did catch it, he was good at limiting yards after catch. He played well. Even in run support, he did well and made plenty of tackles. A few times that he wasn't quite in position does not change this.

TM also had a good year, especially for a freshman. Very disruptive, and made some good highlight reel plays that obviously hold a lot of weight for you. But a handful of highlight reel plays don't mean he had a better year than PP-- not to diminish the impact of either player. I'm glad they're both Tigers.

Thinking that PP7 isnt as good as people say just shows that half the people on this rant knows shite about football!!! You idiots see 4 ints and say hes not that good hahaha!!! Because no one throws his way!!! Plus PP7 is one of the best pure tacklers in the NCAA, you never see him miss a tackle in the open field!!! Plus he always gave us huge field postion for an offense that wasnt really good!!! Should i go on cause i can, PP7 takes away half the field on D, you people who never played D muchless football do not know how that changes a game!!!

Peterson just didn't have the effect that everyone was hoping for. In big games he just wasn't a difference maker. Especially in SEC play

Am I the only one who realized that PP was no where to be found after the WVu game? No TD's and 1 pick.

People didn't throw to him. If he could teleport 40 yards to where the football was being thrown and intercept it then I would be very impressed. Also, how can you be complaining about his punt return TDs? Do you even have any idea how rare it is to get one, much less more than one like he did this year? Even the most electrifying returners will only get a couple of return touchdowns in a year.

Now everyone can see why there are people being paid millions to look for talent for their teams, because otherwise you would have people like these posters running your team into the ground.

How many times have you heard Revis's name this year in the NFL? I can't recall one time I've heard it yet, so I guess he's just an awful cornerback and is overhyped, right?
