Having LSU players drafted in the first round and become NFL stars/household names is very good for our brand and program, especially in recruiting.
Period.
How embarrassing is it when you hear “what a waste of talent at LSU” built many in the national media.
It actually gives other schools opportunities to say “LSU can’t develop QBs” or LSU can’t develop WRs. Chark is another example and negative recruiting fodder for people like Jimbo Fisher and Saban.
WINNING settles all that. Do you think this staff will win more than 8 games this season? What’s your confidence level on that? Would you bet your pay check or your daddy’s paycheck?

I haven't heard his name mentioned as a potential overall #1 pick since the end of 2016. He had baggage coming in to this combine...now he just compounded it.

Key hurt himself more than anyone else has in this draft.

You really think so?
What if he has an average 40
tape dont lie. 16sacks in 19 games over last 2 seasons. There just aren't enough good pass rushers in this draft.
Already showed good change of direction. By all reports impressed in the interview. He'd have to really bomb the 40. His first 10yds will tell the story on him, however.

Don't think so. See Guice as 1st round only.
Chark, Jackson 2nd round. Key depends on what team takes the risk.

Orlando Brown might be lucky to be drafted what are you talking about?

If key doesn't get taken by the time the Saints are picking in round one and they pass on him with the glaring need for a pass rusher opposite Cam Jordan it's gonna be hard to not be quite livid. The guy was a sure top 15 pick since this injury plagued year where his weight and motivation came into question, but the fact is when he's 100 percent and in an NFL nutrition and lifting program, Key is going to end up having double digit sack potential year after year and really doesn't need much time to be at that level. I see at most a couple years learning the pro game and speed of it all and then blowing up into one of the premier pass rushers in the entire game. I still say he's worthy of the grade given to a first round talent and should be taken far before the Saints could get him, but it looks like the chance he is there will be a reality and sadly I think the front office might see him as a player they can wait on or have a need higher up on the board than a pure stand up rusher, most likely a more complete linebacker prospect that could play multiple positions and can do more than Key can in total...but it's a mistake to let him get by. I'd be open to trading back into either the first or second round to aquire him if we go another way with 27, but please of all the LSU guys who could've been in the black and gold, none made more sense than to get Key and not look back.

Because he got up to 270 pounds within a couple months knowing that he could be a top 5 pick, knowing he was going into his Junior year. He was horribly out of shape.
In fairness to key, he was bulking up in the offseason prior to his junior year and got up to 260 solid arse muscle (I recall him tweeting about it) before his "issues" popped up. This whole "key ballooned up to 270" thing is way overblown.
