Why would you hope for an unranked team? Not sure why the Michigan State matchup is getting so much hate. They’re a good team, and it’s a good, fresh matchup.

Because for a decent, but not preeminent, bowl, it doesn't matter all that much. Michigan, in my opinion, is more of a marquee match up for various reasons, despite their ranking.

Agreed. Playing a ranked team with the same record makes more sense. The ND matchup is old and tired.
